You need to go actually start hiking.
That **** beats up your feet and ankles.
Not running on a treadmill.
That's what will bring you down, not a lack of endurance.
Strain/pull something in your feet or your ankles and watch how quickly your endurance will become irrelevant.
**** at least run outside.
Why do you think they have soldiers hiking all the time, not running on treadmills?

If you're really that worried start hiking, start running outdoors, etc.
I'm sure running on a treadmill helps a little but it's nothing like hiking up and down inclines, on uneven terrain that could be wet/muddy, etc.
Vs walking on a treadmill that's always a nice, level surface that actually propels you forward.
Night and day difference, hiking will tire out your feet and ankles, especially with no experience.
Also if you don't have strong feet and ankles you're much more prone to rolling/twisting something hiking.
You need that hiking for that reason to strengthen your feet and ankles to handle that stress.
If you're only used to walking on sidewalks and floors and running on treadmills you're gonna be in for a surprise.
That's also why you wanna travel as light as possible, more weight is obviously gonna be more fatigue on your legs and lower back.

There is no point to making your bag unnecessarily heavy when you can carry water filters/purification tablets at a fraction of the weight, that can also make a **** ton more potable water than what you can carry.
If carrying water is masturbation, carrying it in your cool little back pack is like owning a real doll.
Might as well walk around with a smoldering tinder bundle too instead of carrying means to make fire derp.

the point of the hydration pouches is to you can easily carry water in your pack as close to center mass as possible

If you're in an area without much for trees, on top of snow, that can be pretty tough too.
Like if you're trying to hike through snow up to your knees with no snow shoes.
Probably need a nice walking stick and need to be super careful/deliberate, which is gonna further slow you down.

Uh, you have this bag on you, you can put water in a container, in the bag.
Why does it have to be some fancy built in contraption?
WTF are you gonna do fill and walk around carry them in your hands with your arms at full extension like Jesus on the cross?
You're gonna put whatever you're drinking out of in the bag anyways.

Get into HAM radio if you can. There's a lot of weirdos into it and people that literally listen to it all day, but also a lot of good people. Offers communications that are on a totally different grid. Electricity goes down? No problem. Repeaters won't work obviously, but the radio network itself is still completely fine. Tons of perfectly fine radios under $100 these days.
