Why are cops becoming soft *******s lately

There was a police chase in LA a couple days ago, dude in a truck drove over like standard height curb and the cops in the Ford Explorers literally stopped and bitched out because they didnt want to jump the curb. Is it against policy to scratch your cars a little in the interest of public safety?
