My experience with the worst pain I have felt in my life

I had torn ligaments, sprained whatever, open heart surgery, raging headaches etc.

But the lower back spasm I had experienced 2 days ago was by far the worst pain I have felt in my entire lifetime (I am sure the open heart surgery recovery sucked much more, but was probably doped up to all hell so besides not being able to move, and being 4 years old at the time, I do not remember clearly)

It happened after a shower, I was drying my legs and out of nowhere it hit. It hit HARD. I was on my elbows and knees unable to move for about 30 minutes, my legs and arms were starting to fall asleep but couldn't move a single muscle due to the extreme, I repeat EXTREME pain on my lower back. I slid forward and plodded completely on my belly and laid there for no joke, 4 hours. Could not move. Had to get my mother to bring me an empty 2 liter bottle and a full one with a straw so I can drink water and piss in the bottle.

This happened at 10am on a Friday (I am in Asia so I am a day ahead) basically the whole friday was just me not being able to move much on the floor. I was recovering at a rate of about 1% per hour. meaning it was still a 90/100 pain at the end of the day. I was sliding across the room with just my right arm, the traction between me and the floor made it SO difficult to move. Took me about 20 minutes to get from in front of the bathroom to the living room (small house, I live in downtown Seoul)

I would use my right arm to switch my positions to roll over without putting any type of stress on my lower back at all, piss in the bottle, and then just lay there miserably. I was scared to death of the thought of me having to take a crap, because I couldn't even sit up. impossible to go to the bathroom

Saturday, I am still not able to sit. But i need to take a crap. I head to the bathroom like they do in army training, crawl with both elbows (recovered just enough where I can raise my upper body slightly while on the floor)
I get to the bathroom, I put my legs under me like some sort of frog position, try to stand using none of my back, while holding onto the door for support. I somehow get up, and land on the toilet, but it is off. I am not perfectly on the toilet. As i try to switch positions to get on the toilet, the ultra hot knife pain comes back, this time I yell, fall to the floor on the bathroom with my ass out. Lay there for 30 minutes ( no joke)

I have my mom bring me 800 mg ibuprofen and my phone. About an hour later I finally manage to get up, take a crap. Fast forward to Saturday afternoon, I take muscle relaxers (why TF didn't I do this the first day) after hearing my friend on discord mobile telling me it sounds like i have a hardcore muscle spasm. I never ever get injured/sick so I had no idea a thing called muscle relaxers exist.

Now it's Sunday, I am on coffee and muscle relaxers on an empty stomach, feeling light headed but alright, can sit up when leaned against wall. This was hands down the most uncomfortable weekend of my entire life. A sign from God. "Oh, you like to be lazy and lay down so much huh? I'll help you out"

Know these feels. Back injuries, even if purely muscular, are pure hell. I was bed ridden for days with mine. If I even tried to stand up, the pain would be completely unbearable, just from making my back support my weight.

Worst part is, once you have a bad back injury, it's never truly the same. I can still lift and stuff, and also play sports at a leisurely level. But I can no longer sprint at 100% capacity (was fast as fuk before throwing out my back), for example. And just lol if I'll risk doing heavy squats again. Feels bad, man. Yet also thankful not to have suffered a worse injury. All muscular for me and it generally does not impact my day-to-day life.

Worst pain I ever experienced was a few hours after eating this ghost pepper chilli I'd made. Turns out I had a bit of a hemorrhoid situation going on, the burn was awful. I couldn't even wipe my ass, had to turn on the shower and kind of duckwalked into the tub with my legs trembling from the pain. Couldn't stand spraying the water directly on my ass but I had to do something to wash the burn away.

It was traumatizing, way worse than anything you could have felt.

Bro I have never experienced something like that, but I can imagine...

My friend ate some hot wings at a bar and I guess he didn't wash his hands properly. Took a girl home and was fingering her, she started yelling and ran to the shower due to burning poon, in the duck position you mentioned and putting water on her poosy. Friend was laughing hysterically. Not cool

My lady and mother, business partner etc ALL told me to go to the hospital. But the distance from my house to a car legit felt SO SO far................ intimidating. Impossible to even sit up, and I didn't want to call an ambulance. haha... 24 hours? My mom left the house an hour after this first happened because she had to go to my grandmother's house. I was alone on Friday.

I couldnt reach the fridge handle for food so I ordered, and told delivery driver to leave the food in front of my door. I had one of those electronic locks on my door so once the food got there it took awhile to open the door. I reached out and got food, took 4 tries. I slid the food across the floor back in front of the bathroom where all my set ups were (straws phone etc)

BASTARDS GAVE ME NO SILVERWARE.

I folded my straw in half to make chopsticks but the pad thai was so greasy it was sliding off. Hell of an experience........

Sorry to hear this OP as it sounds horrible . I’m curious what may have brought it on , like were you doing rows the day prior?
Hope you get well soon , but this sounds like something that needs an MRI . How’s the medical system their ?

Have you tried taking naproxen? It’s an anti inflammatory that you don’t need a prescription for , but you must have food in your stomach and drink a full cup of water or more . You can’t lay down for a while either , as it will burn your stomach

Oof that sounds bad OP. Thankfully haven't had that bad of an issue. Herniated disk I am guessing?

I have scoliosis so I live with back pain every day. I'm used to it. But One time I was warming up for a deadlift max day. Went to do 225lbs which is weightless to me. Because I knew it was weightless I didn't brace or stay tight. As soon as I started pulling up I fell to my knees. I had to crawl to the stairs in my buddies basement. They thought I was joking around. I pulled my piriformis muscle which runs across the sciatic nerve. For a week I couldn't tie my shoes. Walking up stairs was basically me holding all my weight on the railing and dragging myself up. Just crippling pain/feeling.

But yes muscle relaxers will help. Also get a hard ball and massage the direct area where the issue is. It will be painful. Heat.

Then go to a specialist or chiropractor with a good track record.

Good luck OP.

I was pretty dehydrated and took a super cold shower. I guess my lower back was tense to begin with, and when I was drying myself I made a movement too quick and it triggered it. Medical care is absolutely great, I should go get checked up this week. Never tried naproxen, to be honest I absolutely hate taking any sort of meds. But will look into it, thanks

This worries me.. I really hope it doesn't interfere with my lifts. Looking to stretch a lot and maybe yoga to get super flexible to prevent any sort of muscle complications.

Thanks man.

I have never even heard of the word scoliosis until yesterday. Could you elaborate on what sort of back pain you deal with on a daily basis?

I SUSPECT I may have it, my lower back has been ultra tight for about 15 years to be honest, and when I sit on a computer chair I am always leaned left. Never actually sitting upright. I also read that it could be poor circulation in the legs. I used to weigh 311 lbs before, and I can STILL feel my leg muscles, mostly my lower outer calves strain from time to time and I have varicose veins that I got from when I was super fat.

Going to look up piriformis scoliosis etc and all the stuff you said and get checked up to see if I have anything, thanks.

Funny as fukk

Nah but my worst pain I broke my arm when I was 13 didn’t even feel anything when I broke it

Only when I got to the hospital and they started moving it around to take x-rays did I suffer a level of pain I couldn’t even imagine
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Can confirm have felt various types of immense pain and nothing compares to back spasms. I have gotten them here and there for the last 15 years and I always get them in a particular spot (Thoracolumbar junction) and I get severe nausea whenever it happens too. Doctor said there is nerves going to the gut right at that part of the back so the spasm is probably putting pressure on those. Seem to get them once every 6 months and basically I'm writhing in pain for a couple days. Usually comes on slowly rather than a sudden thing though.

Holy ****, are you me? I had an almost identical thing happen to me at the beginning of June, was by far the most painful thing I've ever experienced as well. Was mid-set between sets of weighted pullups and was lazy and didn't take the belt and weight off, stood up and strained my lower back, legit fell to my knees and was propped up on elbows while my lifting buddies helped me get the weight off my waist. Legit laid on my back for about 30 minutes before I could move, and could barely walk for like two days, the pain was horrendous. It legit hurt to sit on the toilet, hurt to walk, hurt to change positions in bed, couldn't bend over to tie my shoes, etc. Was miserable for a whole week even though I did a whole week of therapy. Have been superrrrrrr good about stretching now after every workout, and doing a lot of lower back rehab stuff.

My worst pain was easily, definitively, and without comparison, appendicitis. It started as one of those "diarrhea stomach cramps" but just got progressively worse and worse. It was initially so sharp and pronounced I knew within 5 - 10 minutes "This is probably my appendix." Tried to sleep it off, couldn't pass out. Then I started puking, and was like "Time to hit the ER I guess." About 10 - 15 minutes into waiting at the ER, it REALLY started to get bad. I had to puke several times in the waiting room bathroom. By the time I was taken in the pain was indescribable.

Recovery was pretty brutal too, even with the painkillers. Stomach was puffed out like crazy for a few days.

2nd worst was probably rhabdo, which I let go for a few days. In fact, the rhabdo experience had me in the hospital for almost a week. Appendix removal I was in and out within 24 hours.

I personally have never had any lower back problems up until June when that **** happened (and have lifted for around eight years or so), and I think it's because I was doing SLDL's weekly with more weight than I should have and started using my lowerback too much as opposed to getting that hamstring stretch, which probably set me up to **** my **** up. Great exercise but definitely don't wanna load it anywhere near your DL max nor treat it like a max effort exercise.
