NO ONE was buying their sh!t in the comments so they just straight up banned them. "We're trying to make this community safer!"

I guarantee their website traffic has plummeted. Once I saw the comments had been disabled, I haven't clicked on a single article. The only reason people click on Yahoo! articles is to see the comments trashing the obvious bias.
