I would burn everything I own and piss on the ashes to be gainfully employed in/around my hometown. Best community I was ever a part of. I love that place.

If only my career was less city based.

When was this? CS is a metropolis now...when I first went to college in '92, there was literally one strip mall anywhere close to campus and that was it. Now B/CS is as large as Austin was when I worked there in '99.

Where I live now is getting too big; really want to move out to Leakey/Camp Wood, total population is like 400 and 700 respectively. Close enough to Uvalde if I need to go to Walmart/HEB.

That's their asking price. We offer $9500 on bank foreclosures. They all need about $1000 worth of work that can be done by a professional in 2 days (or by myself in 2 weeks), then I furnish them, get cable and wifi going and rent them out. This town also has the lowest average mortgage payments in the country, $206

have lived in small city, small town of less than 10,000, and now a big city.

can honestly say the small town was peaceful and great but got old quick
living in a big city has been a nice change

could live anywhere and be happy though srs

Yeah that’s how I see it too. There are a lot of people ITT who think the only options are to live in a major metropolitan with riots and muggings or in some backwater town of 500.

Living in a small town would drive me to suicide.
I can't imagine needing a car to do basic things.
I live in a metro area, and it feels good to see a bunch of people of multiple cultural background.
It's like a miniature version of the world.

Nah I can't do small town

I just need good nature, pc, piano, a few friends, and IΒ΄m set.
I think city living will just get worse and worse in the west, higher crime, less freedom, more virus spread etc. Soon, anyone with the right knowlege and ingredients will be able to create deadly novel viruses in their basements. The elites want you to live in a big city, youΒ΄re more controllable that way.

Civilization always fails, and it breeds evil.
Humans have throughout mos of history lived in tribes with up to around 150 people. Just lol if you canΒ΄t live like that, just how disconnected from nature are you?

Live in a town of less than 400, 30 mins from a proper grocery store. I prefer very low population density and being far away from any kind of population center.

Damn at people thinking a small town is under 30k people, damn, brb my town is under 500

Pros:
Neighbors look out for eachother
kids play outside
can have fireworks
can build whatever I want in my property
no excessive noise
clear night sky
no unknown people around
friendly people and neighbors
yard larger than a few sqft
can grow garden flowers and other chit
burn trash or have bonfire
nature and chit
no homeless or beggars
no loitering
very conservative area
county & town festival
low property taxes
no protest no riots

Cons:
nearest store is 30min from home
gas station close at 9pm and sundays
no alchohol sales on sunday
church music blaring at 9am every sunday
everyones dog is loose and roaming
6am saturday hunting shoots on the dot
deer/armadillo/hogs in the yard eating my damn flowers
literally all restaurants but the chinese place is closed on sunday
chitty internet
no cellphone signal at all
very openly racist people
no store in town, have to drive to next town over

America is 98% rural land yet we feel the need to live right on top of one another. LOL @ people who live in subdivisions and the like.

I need my stimulation, I need to consooooom, I need validation from as many people as possible. I hate being bored, boredom is torture. I need people around me to guide me the way. I need to follow the dumb sheep herd to slavery. I canΒ΄t find peace within the silent world, so I need constant stimulation to keep me occupied. I need to consoooooooooom

If my ~3k town had a walmart it'd be perfect srs. We have a grocery store and 24/7 gas station but a close walmart is as good as it gets for small towns.

well Walmart’s 30 minutes so is the gas station but it’s considered the same town. Anything with in 50 miles is the same town

Small town ND is boring AF, but small towns in cool regions would be alright for me. Keeps the riff raff away for the most part, the type you see on the news, although there are plenty of degenerate deadbeats in small towns as well.

I don't think I could stand being more than an hour away from a decent sized 50-100k pop area though.

Grew up in ND. Small towns there are harder because they are spaced out so freaking much.

The older I get the more I understand the small-town appeal. Less Bull**** and more humble people. It's better to be in a state where they aren't so spread out though like WI so you can hop from town to town to do random things for fun.

The only part I hate is the lack of privacy though. Everyone knows everything about everyone in a small town. If they don't know something, then they gossip about what that thing might be.
