Sneaking into movie theaters, and being loud throughout the movie.

Actually having to talk to people in real life. Kids like me actually playing outside all day and drinking all night.

This comment nails it. What I remember most is the rapid advancement in computers and video games. There was always something amazing around the corner. Your mind was always blown when that new video game, console, personal computer, software, etc, was released. You couldn't wait for the monthly catalog to see what was next.

When I started downloading MP3's in the late 90's (in lieu of of mix cassette tapes) the sensation was that it was simply too good to be true, nobody couldn't believe something like that could exist.

There's nothing to get excited about anymore in these respects, life today feels so much more mundane.

Nothing is mysterious anymore because everything can be known, found out and revealed by a few taps. In a some ways, high speed internet killed many aspects that were part of what we call "life"

Part of this was obviously being young and not knowing stuff, but part of it was also due to the fast progress of the digital world.
This is the true greatness of the 90s and 2000s in regards to technology. It was progressing so fast and visibly, that everything felt always new. If you bought a new game chances are it was a completely unknown experience. One didn't know how the graphics would look like and how the game play would feel like.

Nowadays many games are objectively better, but also objectively more similar. When I buy a game, I cannot hope for a totally different experience than Skyrim 10 years or so ago(thx Unreal engine). If I buy a new smartphone it is going to be the same than my previous one just fast and with a bigger harddrive.
