You're supposed to put your wife first then your kids

That's what creates a healthy family and is what most couples thought 50+ years ago I only found this out recently.

Wife is supposed to put the husband first as well.

A lot of people forget that children are supposed to fit into your life, not the parents into theirs.

Boomers put the kids first and that's why so many millennial ended up f*cked up. The older generations put the wife/husband first.

This was back when couples married before 25, and had 8 kids. If something happened to 1 kid, you'd be sad, but you have 7 others to think about. You only have one husband/wife. If something happened to them you're boned, your workload will double. Of course you'd care about your spouse more. Eldest children were given a kick up the bum at 14 and expected to work part time and contribute towards the household expenses. It creates healthier families, less dependant kids and better societies.

These days, the kid follows the mother as she churns through man after man, her only constant companion, so of course she has more affection towards the kid, but I'd argue less love, the only one she loves is herself.

We can't go back to the old days. No one can support 8 kids, unless you're a complete degenerate. You have 1 or 2, maximum 3, spend a chitload educating them, setting them up, then continue saving for retirement once they've finished uni. 8 kids will mean all 8 will end up in crime or poverty. Modernisation has killed the traditional family.

And this is why dating a single mom won't ever work. Kid will come first.

Learned that first hand year ago. Noped right out of there.

See when you get into a marriage with that mindset it becomes toxic and actually makes it worse for your child. The best thing for your child is for the parents to have a loving relationship with each other. If you see the wife as someone you can just replace then the marriage will end up being toxic and that will rub off on your child and also make the him/her narcissistic and entitled like the average millennial.

Just asked my wife this question and she said kids. I told her no it is the spouse. Then she agreed that i am more important than the kids because i make the money. I wish i was joking.

I preach this a lot but always falls on deaf "my kid is my life and comes before anyone" ears.

I remember growing up and my grandmother would make my grandfather's plate for dinner before anyone else was allowed to. She always put him first. I tell people this and the "Omg I would never let a man eat before my 15 kids" career single girls with 10 baby daddies come out.

Agreed, would never marry a woman that doesn't understand that we put each other first. Plenty of women become single because the end up making a best friend out of the kid instead of their relationship with their husband.

Lol at having kids
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Yeah, if my house is on fire and I can save my wife or my kid.

Sorry wifey, we will miss you.

To be fair though, she would probably shoot me if I didn't get kiddo.

And this one is sorta right if you are referring to tasks/caretaking within a traditional working dad/stay at home mom type family. Not exactly that for the woman her kids should be a higher priority, just that she expends more of her time and energy in taking care of the children and may not make space for herself.

In that case if the husband steps up and acts to see that she does get some of what she needs (nap, coffee with friends, quiet time to study or do hobbies...generally getting to be an adult unattached to small people) then the wife is better able to be a good partner.

It's that can't fill up a bucket with another empty bucket kind of thing.

And, FWIW, my parents were boomers and I don't believe that they "put the children first". I actually tend to think that in many boomer relationships at least one spouse put themselves first. Gen X was actually reportedly the "least parented" generation of kids.

Gotta give her credit for the honesty tho lol. Probably didn't realize what she said till after it came out of her mouth.
