Is Sonic the best video game movie to date?

Video game based movies have generally be ok at best, and best didn't happen very often.

But Sonic the Hedgehog was actually, dare I say, good.

Not great/amazing. Definitely won't be winning any oscars, but was a, imo, solid family movie. Jim Carrey was key to this of course.

What say you misc? Best video game movie to date?

Resident Evil movies can be corny, but are fun to watch.

Haven't seen Rampage only because I know the game is nothing but climbing buildings and breaking chit. Wasn't too interested in a plot centered around that.

The obvious answer is:

Also the latest Tomb Raider reboot movie with Alicia Vikkander was pretty solid. It was missing Angelina Jolie's rack but it was a solid adaptation.

Rampage was a competent film but also very "generic" since we already have Godzilla more or less doing the same chit in movies.

Detective Pikachu had some good parts, but in some it delves into uncanny valley with the designs.

I didn't know PacMan had a movie....unless you're talking about that horrendous "Pixels" movie with adam sandler where Pac Man had a cameo.

Sonic, while not a good movie (where every so often you're reminded that its meant for little kids...fart jokes and "flossing" dance) was about as good as you can do with the source material while still staying faithful to Sonic as a character. Paramount gets props in my book for actually listening to fans. I still have no idea how creepy homonculus Sonic would have worked in many of the scenes of the final build of the film.

The Ninja Turtles have video games, but they didn't start as video game characters. They have video games based on their cartoons/movies.

Man, if they kept the OG design, I would not have gone to see it. The fact that they actually cared and changed it to look like the Sonic we know earned brownie points from me.

Seriously, who the fuk saw the first design and said run with it?

Anything beats the DOOM one where they had about a $5 budget for special effects.

That was made in Bulgaria for like $100k just so Universal could keep the license for another decade

If you just looked at the cast you'd think it would've been great. The Rock, Karl Urban and Rosamond Pike.
