Why is the misc so afraid of divorce? Srs
I get being afraid of not seeing your kid everyday or something, but is everyone really terrified solely because of the potential loss of money?
I mean, It's just money.
Genuinely curious.

Guess not everyone has enough of it and an extremely expensive and usually bitter legal proceeding in which they will likely lose any high value assets they have (house etc) essentially wipes away any meaningful financial progress they've made in their life. Not to mention the emotional misery that is likely piled on top of that as well as having to half of all your future money to someone you probably despise so that they can live withyourchild and not have to work to support them whilst they actively keep your child from you
Somehow still managing to avoid getting 'too big'

You can't become a Shriner if you're divorced, they frown on that.

It's not being divorced, it's a chick holding the threat of divorce over your head as a reason to act chitty.
There's a reason wealthy guys often don't get married a second time unless it's to a much younger girl who won't give him BJs without it.

Not nearly as bad as rich men - but still.
What did Bezo's ex-wife do to earn that?

Its the fact that they get your hard earned money for no good reason. Money that you worked hard, sweat, bled for. Not about the actual dollar amount. Moreso you could've have spent 40 years working to save up a certain amount, and overnight the judge decides you hand over your assets. Its like donating 20 years of your life to some old bag because of some bullsht legal precedence.
I will never get married. But if I did, and my wife took half of my sht id probably murder her OJ style.

Marriage is tough, even tougher with kids. But not enough people work hard through their bullchit when things get tough nowadays, cuz it’s gotten so normal to just give up on things in our society. I feel like not enough people really meant “forever” when they got married. Luckily keeping our family together is important for both me and my wife and we worked through our bullchit. (Honestly most of it was from me doing her wrong, which was in response to her not treating me right imo). She ended up willing to work through things, I ended up wanting to change, and she stopped treating me the way she was etc...
We worked through it and are both better because of it. And our family is stronger.
As far as the money side of things I think of people are worried in that respect they don’t have enough saved for long term or too much invested into their house/cars.
If you only have 10-20% of your wealth tied into that, you don’t worry about splitting up your savings as much.

I went through a divorce about 10 years ago. It’s all of it!
I would lay awake at night worried about my kids because my ex was such a loser (hoarder, no responsibility)
I have a good job, but I was paying so much to my ex for the kids, I was having a hard time surviving due to winches outstanding bills in my name. Our salaries were VASTLY different. While I had a great career (IT), she had a poverty job that anyone could get. It was around 100k vs 25k for income.
It is something that I would wish on anyone, but I’ve been done paying her for a couple of years now.
Things that drove me mad:
She would buy herself a gaming laptop, but the kids would look like poverty.
She rented a slum house that smelled so bad. I called child services on her a few times due to no taking care of the kids.
In Georgia, kids can pick the parent after 14 yo. I got custody after that, but the laws are heavily in favor for women.
We divorced because she chucked me with an old high school ‘friend’. I haven’t seen her in a few years but I hear she’s pushing 250 lbs and he high school friend is pushing 300+. No joke, oh they still live in a hoarder house.

Now that I'm older and have been in a long term relationship. Its not a division of joint assets that bothers me. Because I know if I married my girlfriend my investments would grow at double the rate due to having more capital to invest. Its the potential for alimony/ridiculous child support payments for 18 years.
Knowing that often divorces happen when things seem alright and the other person just gets bored or wants something fresh/new. Knowing that some times they hate their ex spouse so much they do whatever they can to screw them over. Etc. Remember every single marriage that ends badly started with a great deal of 'love' and people swearing oaths to each other in front of their friends/family. Etc.
Marriage is a massive freaking gamble. That gamble also increases with the more sexual partners your girl has had prior to you. Whether or not she had a kid in tow. Whether or not she was married before. Etc.

Like other said, it's things like spouse support. You feel pretty cucked for doing it.
I read somewhere that divorce was a risk factor for suicide for men.

Boy - I wish I could find a woman who would pay me a billion dollars to /not do the dishes/.
Here is the reality - press - if you want people to get married - stop associating it with money/insurance/property.
Make it a thing between you your wife and whatever creator or lack thereof you believe in.
The moment you involve monetary concepts - you throw this **** in the trash.

Her mother died right before we were married and it really caused some issues mentally. That’s when the hoarding started.
I stayed with her because we had a daughter who I loved dearly. My parents were still married. I was brought up that you stick together through it all. So that what I did, but I had depression and was on meds because of it.
Even after she cucked me, I fought to stay with her because of the kids. We had three by that time. I literally told myself that I would sacrifice my life for my kids.
Those first few months were hopeless after the divorce, but I felt that I had to keep it together for the kids.
I had ballooned up to 240 lbs trying to comfort myself with food, but after the divorce I started working out. I lost 70lbs. My life changed for the better after that. I’ve been great mentally since then.
I did remarry which I thought I would never do, but it is drastically different this time. We are best friends and do not have an ounce of hate towards her.
