Why are you stay at home cels so entitled? Is it too baffling to consider the possibility that you can rent a room instead of getting an apartment or does the thought not even cross your mind?

What's the difference between paying $1000 to rent a room elsewhere, versus living with their parents? I mean I get it if rent was cheap like when I was getting out of college, and you could get a place without huge rents, but those days are long gone, and Zoomers are out of luck.

As a parent, it makes no sense to have your kid wasting all that money on rent, when they could be investing in school, a trade, or a business.

It doesn’t cost $1000 to rent a room in student housing. Idk what y’all are saying. It doesn’t have to be top of the line luxury.

Edit: until unless you live in the most expensive places. Even then you can find a small little room for $500-$600. A few minutes on google, NYC:

https://www.nakedapartments.com/rent...+asc&sort=rent

The fact that everyone’s mind goes straight to getting an apartment is kinda funny and to me shows how spoiled some ppl are.

Did anyone actually believe this story? It was so barebones. Usually people cite detailed evidence of the people in the story.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

He did the right thing

18 year olds these day’s go to college and basically do nothing to support themselves until they are 22+

The dad likely knows his son is idle or prone to being it, so instinctively wants the best for his son by making him leave the nest and find his own feet

My cousin took a year off between high school and college. He spent the year working for a local construction company building houses. After a year he realized he did not want to go to college and he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Ended up serving for 6 years and actually went overseas to Afghanistan. Ended up meeting an woman also in the Marine Corps there and they started dating. Finally left the Marines with his now fiance and they got married. Had a son and a daughter, and then was trying to figure out what to do. Marines contacted him and ended up paying for his entire degree to become a Nuclear Engineer for the Navy. Went to school, graduated top of his class, and now makes $150k a year as a Nuclear Engineer.

Some kids don't figure it out until much later in life, or need to know what the other side looks like before deciding. He wasn't sure if he wanted to be a tradie like his father, and working construction for that year made him realize he'd never want to do that. He was super smart, but just never applied himself. Once he was established and knew his goals, you couldn't stop him. Take a Super Smart High School Kid and pit them against a Married Man with Two Kids. If you had to pick between one beating the other, I'd take the person who needs to provide for their kids.
