Powerlifting is the goat. Can focus on 3 exercises go hard sit around for awhile, relax eat whatever the fk you want and as much as you want. Still seeing them gains. Plus it takes way longer to actually see strength gains than visual aesthetics so if anything it’s more impressive even if they’re fat af imo.

You think that’s bad imagine being in the UK. We don’t really have powerlifters (as in guys lifting a decent amount of weight with good form) but we still have plenty of bloatlords who fck around with straps and chalk getting in the way of us real athletes

Amateur powerlifting is just a cope for dudes that cant stick to a diet.

SRS.

Whats the point of lifting if you are going to be bloat status and not even make an income from it?

In modern powerlifting (raw with or without wraps) the elite of the elite would pass as bodybuilders:

Larry Wheels
Stan Efferding
John Haack
Kevin Oak
Ben Pollack
Dan Green

The list goes on.

My sister-in-law tried every avenue of fitness to get in shape and the diet part always got in her way. She switched to PL a couple years ago and has found her home. Unfortunately, her home also encourages chit talking every other form of fitness that yields visual benefits.

I'm happy she's happy. Outside of legit competitive power lifting though, it seems like it's more about fat acceptance than anything. A lot of people are going to end up wrecking their backs AND being fat. No thanks.

How else will they cope?

To make it worse, no one really cares about their heavy singles/doubles/triples as they desperately look around the gym for attention after their set.

Dabbled in BB, Oly, PL and now strongman. Strongman is the most fun and challenging by far. As a natty BB is just so limiting that it’s great for starting lifting, learning form and how your body moves etc but eventually the gains just slow to a point that you have to really love it to push to that next level.
Similar in PL. I respect the insane amount of effort put into those 3 lifts but diminishing returns caused loss of passion.
Oly was challenging and training partner/coach moved away so that was a short stint.
Strongman has been so much fun, making gains every session, form is obviously still important but when lifting natural stones etc it’s not like spending years dialling in a squat. Time will tell if I keep the passion but I think I will. Having a pressing day where it can be a barbell, axle, log, dumbbell, block, keg, stone etc. just keeps things so fresh.

No hate on anyone doing what they like of course.

There are 2 clowns I see regularly at the gym who call themselves powerlifters but don't even compete. We only got one squat rack and somehow they always manage to take it up for 45+ minutes during busy hours doing quarter squats.

U wot m8?

I've legitimately never seen a thread started on here by a powerlifter bashing others for how they choose to lift, or for anything lifting related really. The opposite is a weekly occurrence if not more often. This thread being a perfect example...

Typical twink thread....

see's somebody actually moving some weight around that he'll never get close to....

Gets salty AF but wont ever dare say anything in person....

instead gets on BB.com to summon whatever twink friends he has around to talk trash

Sits at home crying because he'll never be aesthetic enough for a 2/10 to touch his dink AND he's weak.. meanwhile fat powerlifter walks out of gym with 10/10 somehow and even normal people cant figure it out but are still happy big boy is pulling that... for now at least.

as a twink i dont agree with your statements.

If i see a big dude on a reasonable bodyfat lifting big azz weight, i mire, srs.
There is a dude at my gym that looks like a smaller haftor bjornsonn and i mire his lifts.

Maybe you should look at it the other way. There are a lot of fat and out of shape Americans, whose life can improve from doing some excersize and, who might be more motivated by the quick strength growth on the big 3.
Those guys might not be lean guys, who bulked to fat, they might be fat guys, who started out, but are too lazy to cut.
