Late to the party.

1. Kai has significantly less filler.

2. The original Dragon Ball series is excellent, but very different from DBZ. It follows more of a traditional anime storyline. Personally, I deeply enjoy it. You can skip it, personally I watched DBZ first and then watched DragonBall.

Didn't read any comments, but this is the truth OP.

My Hero is far better than DBZ as an adult.

DBZ is great for kids (cool action, way too much filler, just okay story)

My Hero has good action and a far better story.

Even Yu Yu Hakusho is better than DBZ for an old anime

Oh and One Piece is the GOAT manga. There's a reason why it's been popular for 20+ years.

Most consistent story line over such a long period of time puts DBZ, GoT, literally everything else to shame.

Dragon Ball- By far the best story line and really enjoyable. Although, not the best fighting and maybe not as entertaining without watching DBZ. I preferred watching this series last despite it being the first.

DBZ- The best mix of storyline and action. My favorite and most people's favorite series. A lot of episodes but so much epicness, fight scenes, life lessons, etc.

Dragonball GT- Pretty bad. I don't know anyone that liked it. There are a few good episodes but really just a filler series. Would still watch though.

Dragon Ball Super: Best overall fighting. That's basically the entire premise. It's rushed and the storyline is just okay, but basically fighting most of the time. Still enjoyed it.

The movies are pretty good usually. Even the ones that are just okay usually add in a storyline that connects other things you wondered about, or just some cool side stories/fights.
