Over 150 job applications, just only 3 interviews, 0 job offers.

Lost my job mid June due to Covid. Since then I've been sending out applications as many as I can.
I've been getting rejection after rejection and I'm starting to feel hopeless and unmotivated.
I've never been unemployed, so this is new to me. My savings are starting to dwindle and i'm having bad insomnia.

Any ideas on how to cope are welcome.

Yes, enough to just pay rent. The rest is out of my pockect. Plus I don't want to stay on umemployment benefits.

Why not get a sht job like a restaurant/bar just to make a few bucks while you're still waiting for a srs job? Just don't tell the interviewers that you work said sht job. I know you think those jobs are beneath you but no job and no income is worse especially once your savings is gone.

Have you tried paying someone to professionaly write or review your resume?
Even if you have a solid resume if you don’t have enough buzz words picked up by the bot it will just be ignored.

I’d actually recommend having a few of them tuned specifically to the industry you are applying for if you are applying for jobs in different industries.

Degrees don’t even matter. There are investment bankers making 6 figures who majored in history.

A degrees not gonna be the limiting factor in someone getting a job or not. It’s all about selling yourself. Just lol if you think anyone is gonna be impressed and give you a job based on what a piece of paper says.

Notable exceptions being drs, lawyers, certain engineering jobs.

This. You need to tailor your resume to EVERY JOB posting. Pretty sure a bot does an initial scan from a pool of applicants and narrows it down to a much smaller group. Judging by the number of applications you submitted, I doubt you followed that process.

If people don’t know this by now I’ve got some bad news...

Looks like you are doing most of the tricks, that is what I always do. Problem now is that everyone is is also laid off and each job is getting so many applicants your odds are so low. The the best way to get hired is for jobs that arent really advertised or available to the general public - either through word of mouth from friends or a job they didnt do a great job of advertising ect. Then you arent competing against so many applicants. I had the same problem in 2009 after the crashes, it was brutal.

Youd be better trying to get a job at a hospital cafeteria if you had restaurant experience. Im sure those are hard to compete for too though but you could atleast play off your restaurant experience for the job if you get interviewed.

Lol this. When I was applying for work I’d modify my resume and cover letter based on the job description and my research on the company.

Then I’d follow up a week after each application

Not anymore disingenuous than telling a comp sci major he’s gonna be making well over 100k starting out with the sky being the limit.

The average person is gonna make 40-60k no matter what degree they get. I’m sure everyone on her team started off at some small bank, and worked their way up to being at a big company. These things don’t just fall in your lap.

And limiting yourself by what degree you might have gotten in college is not the move.

I do recommend actually getting a degree in the field you want to go into. But if you’ve changed your mind after graduating it’s still possible.

well, that's a strawman, but I think the number of Com Si grads earning $100k out of college would be order of magnitudes higher than history majors killing it in investment banking.

but I agree on your last point. that's why engineering degrees are so valuable. even if you never do engineering, its a hall pass to other opportunities because it is basically proof you are smart and can think.

Agree not average but there are also A TON of people in tech sales with degrees that dont relate (political science, history, english, NO DEGREE) pulling 6 figures.
