You're talking about Laveyan Satanism, that is only one sect of Satanism and doesn't represent the whole of Satanism.

Just like the Anglican Church doesn't represent the whole of Christianity.

Far too many people seem to think that Satanism is the only religion that doesn't have sects, for some reason. I think it's because Lavey did a good PR campaign, so people think that the Church of Satan speaks for all sects of Satanism.

Regardless, the Church of Satan is not simply about self-worship. They also - openly - practice Black Magic. They do believe in the supernatural, just not the Christian supernatural cosmology. They also practice Antinomianism - which is the active pursuit of what the taboo, wrong, or evil of 'conventional morality'.

People from my Episcopalian church don't argue with other Christians. We are happy to see other Christians. Brosef doesn't like Catholics or Episcopalians because we believe in the Holy Trinity. That's quite typical of fundamentalist Christians.

I'm happy to meet a Christian and don't try to argue whether x or y or z. That's the problem with most Christians is they argue with each other vs. look at each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. I look to drop hints to others about how wonderful it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have someone there for you when sloots gonna sloot and others drop you from their life.

I've been there where life is just about getting your body fat to a certain percentage, having a lot of sex with different people or getting the latest Mercedes, and it's a pretty empty life.

Satanism scares me to death and always has.

Don't get me wrong, if I have to choose between southern churchers and fruitcake lefty libs I'll definitely take the churchers. They can be an annoyance but they aren't a problem.

Satanism is kinda fascinating. Its been misrepresented quite a bit as being devil worship or evil. The tenets aren't evil they're just selfish. There are bad satanists just as there are bad christians, thats just the human condition.

Exactly. When I visit places in the south with a lot of churches, the people there are so friendly and they have a great social network from their church. You don't see that as much in the liberal cities. The exception is Seattle, where people seem to be really friendly there, even with the bad weather.

I just don't want to study it or be exposed to it. I don't see why being selfish is a good thing.

You're selfish in the fact that you seek salvation through Christ and don't wish to be left behind in the rapture. The Satanic Bible is an interesting read and you won't go to hell if you read it. If anything it will probably strengthen your own belief system.

Yeah, it goes against the tenets of Catholicism.

The issue I have with what you are saying, is you seem to be trying to promote the idea that the tenets of the Church of Satan = the definitive doctrine of Satanism, and that if an Satanists engages in child rape they are a 'bad satanist'. Not all sects of Satanism have rules against child rape, in fact, many do not believe in any kind of morality, and it's a tenet of Satanism to actively do what society considers evil or wrong.

The Church of Satan is a 20th century creation, and has a commandment against harming kids. However, Satanism and Luciferianism as traditions were not invented in the 20th century (and it's legacy goes back even further than Christianity 'versions' of Lucifer and Satan can be found way further back e.g. Set).
