Coding/hacking question from non hacking pleb

Why don't they make the x button on pop-ups and ads malicious? from my non hacker perspective it seems like it'd be easy to make the x button somehow allow access to permissions in the device, plus I go to a lot of sites with ads and always just x that bish out and keep reading.

Honestly a couple years ago i remember that being more common where the X button or anywhere on the ad at all was just malicious but I haven't seen that in a while. Could be the program there building the ads in or not being allowed to push it out to more common sites/ad filters if there is no way to close it. not 100% sure

That's neat, you know I really find just general knowledge about that type of chit interesting, but it seems like when I try to delve further into, ie. Learn anything more difficult than html, or basic chit I get really bored fast

ah yes this is it. important to note that malware could lead to a browser hijack and in turn lead to more of what i was talking about earlier.

All modern browsers will ignore window.open commands in onunload and onbeforeunload event handlers, that's why.
