Grocery store shelves are missing a lot of products they used to carry. Selection seems very limited now in certain categories (random chit like canned tomatoes, spices, certain over the counter medicines).

Food prices are going up. Almost everything has increased in price by 10-15% or more. Milk, meat, packaged products most notably. Produce seems ok. No more killer deals and sales.

At my work (beverage company), both aluminum and plastic supply chain issues are fukking up our production. At my warehouse on any given night we have 10% out of stocks. This is pretty freaking high.

I'm seeing a lot of bad signs right now for the economy that don't appear to be taken very seriously. Every "good" piece of news is hopped on, every worrying thing is hand waved or buried or simply not discussed. It feels like January/February of the Corona Virus when certain people were sounding the alarm. I remember those times, the videos, the stories, the tweets. Many people thought this was going to peter out and we'd be fine. 15 cases in March, it'll go away like a miracle. LOL. Nope. I'm not a doomer or a panic-cel, and regardless where you sit on how "bad" COVID is, the raw numbers peg this as worse than SARS, H1N1, and any flu pandemic in recent history. And here we are. Once again I feel like we're bearing down on another iceberg, and yet the band is playing and everyone is acting like chit's gonna be fine. I don't know, chit feels too calm, too hunky dory for as much as I've been reading/experiencing.

Honestly, I don't even see this as straight up "economy" problems. This is opportunity just vanishing. This isn't about money changing hands, it's about communities and industries faceplanting in slow motion. It's systemic, and not even a "slow down" where people are just buying less. Supply lines are wrecking companies that would otherwise be doing ok. Do you not see how this can spiral into a big problem?

I'll take it as not sarcasm, because I actually heard on the radio an issue dentists are dealing with-customers losing insurance because they've lost their jobs. Chit still needs to be taken care of, so the dentist has to present cheaper options. That means less and less dollars changing hands, contracting economy. The kicker is much of the economic woes right now are not due to some financial issue, but are entirely artificial-companies that would otherwise be kicking ass are being fukked by their supply lines AND customers that are also being boned by their own lockdown issues. Its a self perpetuating problem, I can see this spiraling out of control. That dentist might have to lay off a hygienist, because his customers are being laid off, and that hygienist isn't gonna be able to afford that new heater, and those tradies are gonna have fewer jobs and buy less monster.....

Tried to buy a new couch this past weekend. Everything but a few options were on an (at least) 8 week back order. Lady said they used to be able to ship just about everything within a few days. Now, you're lucky if you get it at the 8 week mark. Could take much longer.

Where did I go wrong lol? I've got "junk" as well, mainly because my boy has autism, however even he eats pretty healthy. Only fecking meat he eats though is chicken nuggets and fish sticks, so gotta go with that. Otherwise, the boy eats all his veggies surprisingly.

I've noticed all of the above as well, especially beef and pork products, plus any weekly sales they have (which are few and far between) are still higher than the normal prices used to be. Ex: chuck shoulder roast used to be $4.99/lb regular price, could catch it for as low as $2.50 on sale. Now that exact same piece of meat is ~$6.99 or higher and if you're lucky it goes on sale for like $5.50.Wtf is 87% chicken breast?
