Definitely gonna do this within the next couple of years. You can try it out before jumping into it. Training is about $2500, and a paramotor is something like $8500.
No license needed, can fly to a multitude of different areas as long as you got a small amount of open space. Only downside is you can't take sloots with you. Maybe if you got a cart

These things make me laugh so hard, looks fuarking awesome. Dude just walks out of his garage, tightens a few clips, a zooms off into the fukking sky lmao. Brb 9:25 he's above the clouds staring straight down at earth. All for like 1/3 the cost of a decent flats boat.
Cracks me up that these are even legal, brb flying thru his neighbor's yard and looking in. Blows my mind every damn time bros.

I've always wanted to do this but I somehow got stuck in a loop of youtube suggested crash videos a few years ago...
You might walk away from a plane crash but walking away from these crashes, not so much.
I think Im going to steer clear of ultra lights and what not...LULZ

It's an easy way to die.

He used to dump water on forest fires

Got lost in the youtube hole one day and ended up on this kid's channel. Get's millions of views just floating around on his paramotor. Seems fun yet terrifying at the same time.

Make a mistake setting up the cord lengths and you die.
Exceed angle of attack and you die.

I'm still gonna try it since it's the easiest route to the skies. You need a lot of land to takeoff and land for a personal plane and helicopters are expensive

That's why there's different air space restrictions and you don't just up fly anywhere you want all willy nilly

Don't think I could do this. Afraid of heights. It's different flying my Corvalis or my company's 747 (fear of heights does not come into play). You'll never get me airborne in one of the "strap the engine to your body" contraptions.

the guy in the video said that you descend slowly when he was talking about clouds being disorienting. makes me think crashes are really rare. the way he scoffed at it he said even if you become disoriented you have a lot of time to react
my guess would be something becomes entangled in that it becomes severely out of control and momentum is hard to kill as you're crashing to the ground..
but if you could easily disconnect from the seat/ motor and ride with another parachute... seems ok?
want to try it for sure

Looks extremely unsafe. All it takes is a strong gust of wind and you’re fuking dead. Also landing seems easy to completely fuk up and destroy your back crashing attached to a heavy device

You have no idea how many dreams I have had in my life just hovering above land like the guy in the OP video is doing. Did not even know this was a thing.
I think I would do if if I could. Obviously I would wear a parachute
