How to expand social circle after 21 (outside of work)

by no means am I a FA, but I haven't really added to my friends since Uni.

Over time guys are moving to different areas, so I'd like to meet new people around me. My work is small and mostly older dudes.

Is the only way joining some club or class or something?

If you start a band and play live regularly and don’t suck, you’ll always have friends

Chit even if you do suck you’ll probably make friends

Easiest way is picking up a new hobby that you'll behighly involved in.

When I dropped out of college the first time I started raving and had a crew about 10 deep that I went to shows with, plus a handful of other people we'd meet here and there, and we'd go to shows in Cali.

Powerlifting/soccer/music production/fantasy sports, there's tons of things you just gotta pick one you're into.

Dealt with the same issue, it’s tough especially if you’re not in an urban city.

And say you meet someone at the gym, they may not necessarily like going out to bars so they just become gym friends.

make friends by
- socializing at gym
- going to raves
- hitting up old buddies possibly for extra social experience

OP, not that I think it's a good idea, but go out and socialize, meet people that are alone or in groups of 2-3 (don't bother if it's more, already clear they have a big friend group,) talk about anything for a couple minutes, and ask them if they wanna chill sometime/take their number

dont be ashamed if they dont wanna be friends/give you their number. not everyone is at the same place in their life, realize its not actually you theryre saying no to, and move on and make other friends.

But srsly, the larger your social circle the more time you waste doing unproductive things. Having 3 good close friends> a large group of good friends, imo

Joining a Martial Arts gym helped me make more friends as an adult. If you fight with people, you will reach a mutual bond and level of respect, just talking to people won't give you.

Aside of that, I would be happy about clues as well.

Use meetup dot com and find some activities you might be interested in. Unfortunately, because of the COVID virus, a lot of people aren't interacting IRL,they're doing it over Zoom or whatever.

You could take a class at a continuing education center, at your local library (if it's open, mine is still closed).

You could also volunteer. Do some stuff with the Red Cross, local hospitals, walk dogs at your local animal shelter, and stuff like that.

But, until this COVID is over, it's kind of a bad time to try and make new friends.
