Is there anything wrong with being prejudice [srs] [no racist]

If my encounters with certain ethnic groups have been not so desirable then why is it so bad to try and avoid those certain types of groups or situations unvolving them? Isnt that called survival? I wouldnt keep running into a fire if it burned me. Its logical, why is society so heckin' dumb.

We all have life experiences, and sometimes we associates negative life experiences with a racial group because we've found those experiences negative or traumatic. But, that is probably the exception and not the norm. Unless you live in some gang infested area where you would want to avoid certain groups, I don't see the need to just decide "Oh I'm not going to talk to Asians because they're all assh0les".

Yep. I went to one in a very urban area that was still under desegregation orders from the 1960s, meaning they bused kids in from all over the city. My name in high school was "White Boy".

I judge people on a person to person basis and it has worked so far. My method: think of every action, word, etc as a + or a -, and assign a value to each one. if at the end the individual is any amount a -, remove them from your life. If at a +, assign them a place accordingly.

Obviously you're not doing calculations in your head but I think this is a good way to go about human interactions..

I tend to agree there are some pretty methed out looking people in NPR that I avoid. Now I have no clue if they are on meth or opiates I just assume so by their looks and these are white guys which would constitute a prejudice against them just becuase they look like what I perceive to be "white trash". But I have a better chance of NOT getting robbed if I avoid that entire group completely and a better chance than not if I dont. Thats my mindset. This entire train of thought isnt about race btw.

So, you're talking about trashy white people who use meth and crack and all that BS. Those are definitely toxic people you want to avoid, because they will steal from you, constantly hit you up for money, and can get you arrested in the wrong situation. So I wouldn't call that prejudice, I'd just call it being smart.

I think it is okay and can be usefull as long as you don't forget it's not a falsified opinion, but a preconceived idea.
There certainely are situations, where getting by on prejudice is more helpful, than actually finding out. Rather avoid a group of people, if alone in a dark alley, instead of finding out, if they are as criminal as they dress. The risk is simply way too high.

You shouldn't let prejudice them cloud your judgement and still be open-minded though. There are a lot of situations for example in the work place, where actually getting to know someone carries no such risk.
