Teach English in SEA Asia

Long time lurker. Any of you guys say screw it and teach English overseas in a foreign country for a while? I'm paying off the little debt I have left and thinking about heading to southeast asia in the next year assuming borders reopen to try and land a teaching gig and get a new perspective on life. I don't have a degree but about to have a tefl certificate from groupon lol. Vietnam and Cambodia seem like the most doable. Even if I fail I can say I tried it.

Vietnsm is 21 usd per hour but hard to get 40 hours per week maybe you'll get 20.

Teacher friend of mine has been in South Korea for 4 years now. She loves it. The school provides an apartment for her as well.

Does getting a tefl cert guarantee you'd be able to find employment?

There's a guy I've been following on YouTube who managed to get a work permit without and states although on paper it is required, once you're here you can get a job pretty easily and get a permit with the right contacts. If I could make around 20 an hour and take some small trips here and there and eat well/train I'd be fine. Just sick of the rat race.

of course you risk getting taken advantage of by certain employers but from what I've researched they're in high demand for native speakers so as long as you look the part you can likely find work.

I have a small amount left on a personal loan I had a family member cosign to help me get for my current car. I'm not that much of a pos to ruin their credit over the 2k remaining. That's the only debt remaining as ccs are paid off.

Simpler life. Cheap and fresh, healthy food. A different lifestyle and see and meet people from entirely different backgrounds. I've been to Bangkok once already and Seoul for a week but obviously living somewhere would be totally different.
