Academy is probably on very slim margins for ammo, but it does get people in the store to buy other stuff.
Militaryshooters.com kept their prices the same the whole time, but whenever they get stock it goes almost instantly. Missed out on 1k 9mm rounds for ~$200-300 (depending on manufacturer) many times now.

They have some every time I go. Get there 1 hour before opening on delivery days (thurs and sunday here). Sucks bc limited to 3 boxes, and usually only have 50 rd boxes. They had 500 rd boxes of WWB for $105 last time.

9mm WWB is all I have been using as training ammo for about the last 8 years. Hasn't been worth firing up the Dillon to save only a couple of cents a round. I was buying the 200 round packs at Walmart.

I have no problems with WWB through my eight 9mm Glocks and I run light striker springs in four of them. In fact, I can't remember the last time I had a malf.

Never had a problem with failures across multiple guns. You really getting a 20% failure rate? My POS 10/22 is more reliable than that lol

That seems ridiculously high of a failure rate; I've run at least 3500 WWB .45 ACP down my Glock over the years and maybe 10 or so failures due to ammo.

It's really not though, unless you want to drill malfunction clearing. Only round I've had an issue with in any gun, and it was fairly consistent that I'd get them. Before the great banic of 2012 it was all I shot. A couple years after that and it's never run right.

Under normal market conditions, there were plenty of high quality alternatives for equal pricing.

I don't know if I ever got as bad as 20% failure rate. That seems high. The only time I went out to specifically torture test and track errors (and the last time I ever bought WWB), I had a 4% failure rate. I'm pretty sure I've had worse, but I didn't record or track prior to that to say for certain.

hey, I have a job! lol, but my schedule varies and I go to shop for other stuff too. Not worth a special trip for 150 rds (unless you have no ammo).

I'd argue great training. One thing I will admit, though they smash us on tap, rack, and roll in training everyone seems to always do it out of habit. Can't hit their targets for sht but can clear malfunctions like champs.

Seems kinda dumb, I’ve maybe have had one malfunction in my 365xl and P10c in 4-5kish rounds. Mostly WWB or Blazer.

I have had some luck finding FMJ 9mm for decent prices. 17.99 for a box of 50.

Also found some hollow points. Winchester Silver Tip.. I don't have any JHP so i know I should get it. Are all JHP pretty similar? I want something that will work.

BTW if anyone needs 9mm for a decent price check the instock reddit sub. There's a drop today at 3/330 central

They're paying the same amount to their distributors as before the panic and these shortages are typically pretty short aside from the 22lr shortage years ago. I don't think it's good business practice for a corporate box store to sell over MSRP in most cases. Bestbuy could charge 50% more for the new iphone and they would still sell out. Footlocker could charge 50% more for the new Jordans and they would still sell out.

Hi, gun crew. Newbie here.

I just took the Firearm Safety Certificate exam today, passed it, and bought a gun. Now I'm waiting on the 10-day background check to clear before I can pick up my firearm.

There were little to no options available at the store. I was thinking of getting something like a 9mm Glock, but everything is sold out. I ended up blindly purchasing a Smith & Wesson 610 (10mm) (4" Barrel) because that was all they had (really) and I just wanted something ASAP.

When I go back to pick up the gun, I need to buy ammo. What kind of ammo do you guys recommend for home defense? What should I be asking for? Are there any other accessories I should get?

Don't know chit about revolvers but I got speed loading fantasies about being a cowboy so I'd pick up the quick reloaders imo and training, ofc. All the training you can afford. So much training, your gf will call you revolver ocelot.

So you got a double edged sword with the 610. It's gonna be a handful to shoot, but 10mm is also one of the calibers I'm actually still seeing inventory for around town.

Buy two boxes of defensive ammo (100rds) and a couple boxes of whatever the cheapest FMJ (full metal jacket) ammo they have is. Stick the defensive stuff away. Go practice a couple times with the other stuff. You're really going to need to learn recoil management and not to be uncomfortable with that caliber in that gun.

I wouldn't go ammo crazy with this, because before you're through 100rds of defensive stuff with a revolver, the fight is gonna be over, one way or the other. I'd stash away money for when you eventually *do* find a gun that's gonna be a bit more comfortable to shoot frequently.

Reps for getting something though. Too many people have literally nothing ATM and insist on continuing to have nothing, just because they can't find the Gen 5 Glock 19 they want.

Buy two boxes of defensive ammo (100rds) and a couple boxes of whatever the cheapest FMJ (full metal jacket) ammo they have is. Stick the defensive stuff away. Go practice a couple times with the other stuff. You're really going to need to learn recoil management and not to be uncomfortable with that caliber in that gun.

I wouldn't go ammo crazy with this, because before you're through 100rds of defensive stuff with a revolver, the fight is gonna be over, one way or the other. I'd stash away money for when you eventually *do* find a gun that's gonna be a bit more comfortable to shoot frequently.

Reps for getting something though. Too many people have literally nothing ATM and insist on continuing to have nothing, just because they can't find the Gen 5 Glock 19 they want.
Yeah I'm not sure what purpose a 1000rds of ammo would have for a revolver, either.

But you could get some moon clips, take some action training, and get a sweet af cowboy hat.

I'm talking myself into this.
