I think PPL is better for bodybuilding and U/L makes more sense for powerlifting. I think BB just has relatively more focus on pulling muscles (don't really hear about many powerlifters periodizing their pullups/rows to the degree they do their big 3) and less on lower body, and PPL allows you to more easily focus on your pulling muscles.

I find packing upper body push and pull into to one day to be a bit much - one of the two suffers for me. I feel like most U/L programs do have their days more focused around the big 3 though if that's a priority.

Looking at 6 days a week, PPLx2 vs. ULx3, that's:

2 days of Push/2 days of Pull/2 Days of Legs

vs.

3 days Upper/3 days Lower (I think 3U/2L is realistically more common, but I kept the number of days the same for consistency)

I've done both, both work well. Don't think I really noticed much of a difference between them. I've been doing upper/lower for the last few years because I can program in a way that aligns better with my goals.

I think proper programming, proper recovery, proper nutrition, and proper sleep are much more important than which one you pick.

It all depends on the amount of days you want/can be in the gym. I will always say PPL before Upper/Lower because doing your entire upper body in one session is not optimal and something is going to lag/not get enough attention. Plus the movements later in the session won't get the same intensity as the earlier ones.
