Easily the best two shows of all time.

But The Sopranos wins by a small margin.

However Breaking Bad is a more enthralling. Each season gets better and better (unlike The Sopranos, which has ebbs and flows, some seasons are significantly worse than others) and the constant cliffhangers leave you hungry for more. Ozymandias is probably the best episode of television ever made.

Hard to choose a winner because they're both fuking incredible.

I'll say this, Better Call Saul is the Sopranos of the Breaking Bad world.
Couldn’t agree more about the sopranos. I remember watching it with my wife and just being amazed at the emotions those actors could play out especially the dynamic between tony and carm. Oh and janice too

Breaking Bad for me. Enjoyed The Sopranos, but haven't felt the desire to rewatch it. Do this every year with BB.

Sopranos. Breaking bad is also 9.5/10 but alot of the enjoyment from watching was from pure schock value. such a crazy story. The Sopranos on the other hand is just masterful character work. I mean hell think about it, the Sopranos is just about a bunch of fat Italian guys eating gabbagool, fcking whores, and killing each other. but its so damn compelling. Breaking Bad doesn't have the same rewatchability factor.

BB is far superior to the Sopranos. It's a beginning to end story with an organised plot. The Sopranos is basically a Mafia soap opera with different writers coming in and out, doing their own thing. BB would never have abandoned the unkillable Russian guy in the woods story line, for example.

I just rewatched The Sopranos and it was worth every minute. You pickup on a lot you missed the first time around.

During the run of the Sopranos, which was 10PM on Sunday Nights, from 1999 to 2007, there was no recorded organized crime activity during that hour. They were having watch parties.

How good is a show when an entire criminal enterprise ceases operations to watch it?
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

That's intentional David Chase style, he doesn't like to always give the audience closure. You don't always get closure in real life, you don't always know what happens to people or where they go. He does it a lot in Sopranos, the ending being the prime example.

It's very close but I give a slight edge to Breaking Bad. BB had no weak points at all throughout the show, but Sopranos was kind of lacking in the first part of season 6. That season was so long that they were forced to have some filler.

Sopranos by a hair.

Didn’t like the ending with breaking bad. Thought the rushed in the neo nazis and they had too big of a role in the outcome.

Sopranos secondary actors were better as well. Bobby bacala, Richie Aprile, Janice, Tony’s mom, blundetto etc >> Marie schrader, Gus, Todd etc

Best proxy for which tv series is better is simple: go to YouTube and check out how many memorable scenes there are for each show and the number of views. The wire and sopranos have a ridiculous amount of amazing scenes compared to BB

I guess using the above logic GOT would be there too so maybe i don't know wtf I'm talking about.

- Never liked Breaking Bad, so Sopranos
- I am not shure I would call either the greatest. They are both great shows objectivly, but with how amazing TV shows have become over txhe last decade and with the advent of streaming they don't stand out as much as they did during their time.

Sopranos for me. It had more fully fleshed out characters who you were totally invested in.

Outside of Walt, Jessie and Hank I can't remember another character who I cared for.

That's not to say BB isn't brilliant though.

Sopranos also set the framework for what was to come in long-form television, so it also gets props for being a trailblazer.

I'd also say I enjoyed Mad Men more than BB, but I watched it more recently, so maybe that would change if I gave BB a rewatch.

lmfao. Am I the only one who finds these "-cels" endlessly hilarious?

Of the two I think Sopranos takes it. It's got a great cast of recurring characters and is subtly hilarious.

Hard to say.

BB explored a subject never before done by a drama series, and had a unique approach to it. Has a decent spin off, too.

Sopranos had a lot of lore and subject matter material to work with as far as italian mafioso's go. That being said, they knocked it out of the park and made it unique by showing the flawed character of a gangster that has a family, depression and anxiety.

If I could choose a 1a/1b it would be those. But for me it's breaking bad -- the way Walt Whitman was incorporated was just too good.

Both are good shows. I like BB better hands down. It was a TV series that explored the drug world and the people that are involved in the manufacturing and distribution of synthetic street drugs as well as the violence that comes with drug dealing.
