Don't ever type in your real name on your computer

Your computer/IP has an ID to companies and governments tracking everything you type on it

https://apoc.club/apps/blog/2020/1/7...ingerprinting/

Cliffs:
Websites use new "technology" in browsers to see how your video card/cpu/operating system performs a forced task, and almost every combination of PC parts produces a unique pattern and this becomes the ID for the computer you use
The moment you type your real name into your computer, that tracked/tagged computer suddenly becomes tagged to your real life person

Solution cliffs:
Either try to blend in with every other computer so that your tag/ID is useless, or constantly give changing info to web browsers so your tag/ID always changes
Bunch of tips at the end on how to try to combat it

If I was motivated enough to avoid this, I'd just run everything in a virtual machine that would boot from a saved image. But I'm not, because I can't imagine a scenario where this will be the thing that matters. The huge amounts of data collection of our cell phones and other devices has been publicly known for ages. Not saying I love it. Just saying the odds of you outsmarting all the data collection mechanisms is slim.

I remember when windows 10 came out and people started realized how much data was being transmitted to random addresses, even after they opted out of everything, disabled all the known services that could explain it, and had no programs running.

People in general know and just don't care. It's sort of amazing.

Thankfully I've already done some of which it suggests to defeat it.

Using NoScript, uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger. As well as clear all data on browser exit, third party cookies disabled for the most part.

the people that find ways around this and try to spread it to others probably get killed or sent to prison (srs)

i was looking at choosing a Linux OS today and I noticednot a single operating system is open source... every computer is owned by the government, there's no such thing as an open source operating system

show me a link to a single operating system where

1. you can see the source code
2. you can download that source code
3. you can compile that source code
4. you can see the discussions people are having and the issues they bring up and what they're working on

it doesn't exist, it's an illusion

Linux was probably made in 2000 by the government as a honeypot for people suspicious of Windows (srs), and they just killed/sent to prison hackers that used it or people that tried to make a different non-authorized OS

Wat?

Of course Linux is open source. It's why literally anyone can take the building blocks and make their own distribution. It's also why it's so secure- millions of eyes on the code means any exploit is going to be found sooner rather than later and fixed.

Again though, likely none of it matters. Even if the OS is open source, the BIOS isn't. Neither is the firmware for the different parts. Neither is the CPU microcode. Etc, etc, etc.

When you start looking at the way Stuxnet succeeded, it's pretty clear there are backdoor exploits in actual hardware. You can't have a 1.5 MB file that self contained all of the coding that endeavor would have taken.

it's a magic trick/illusion

they tell you it's "open source", they show you the source (sort of)

then there's a step missing where it becomes a binary, and YOU didn't turn it into a binary

does that sound like open source to you

How dense can you be? I literally linked you several sources where you can grab the source code for the OS itself.

Just LOL.

This is what the NSA was trying to do back in the mid 90's with the clipper chip. They wanted to have all telephone scrambers that were going to be produced to have their encryption with a backdoor already built in.
I would not be the least bit surprised that they would use the same route. It would be far better for them in the long run to have a uniform point of access and not have to deal with multiple operating systems.

Well we need to do something

People are addicted to phones and computers

The government saw this happening ahead of time and hijacked everything

Soon your soul will he tied to the computers you use. You won't be able to pay credit card statements over the phone, over mail, or in person

And then they'll come out with better and better algorithms to understand what kind of person you are from what you've been doing on computers

I remember those stories.

In a way I feel for the situation the NSA is in. "How do we make sure nobody from Iran is smuggling in a dirty bomb to the Port of LA, AND adhere to all the due process and privacy concerns for citizens"

If we did the thing the libertarian side of me would like- completely eliminate all domestic spying- we'd for sure be inviting a lot of incredibly bad outcomes in situations of national security that we probably don't even hear about being prevented right now.

At the same time, there's always the concern that citizens are going to have evidence collected and used to prosecute things not related to national security at all.

It's a tricky situation and a slippery slope. One that, if not fixed/reined in/regulated may lead to 1984 or Brave New World.
