Is it true this rag I wear on my face all day at work really only needs to be on if I'm coughing or sneezing?

I think two things are possible. One, all 6 of the other families already had it (unlikely). Two, people already have an immunity to the virus. Most likely something like the flu last year. All the other 3 in my family got influenza a last year. I didn't. Now, I have covid and they didn't get it despite being indoors with me almost 24/7

pretty sure the debated efficacy isn't preventing helping the wearer from getting it, but preventing carriers from contaminating surfaces, as the virus requires droplets for transmission.

I dont think everyone already had it. The dad that tested negative is very high risk and obese. If he would have had it, im sure it would have been bad.

The virus is suspended in mucus and saliva droplets. These are much larger particles.
Thus they work.

As far as protecting yourself, if others around you aren't wearing a mask and propelling their droplets all around, you can easily breathe them in even thou you are wearing a mask. Depending on the type of mask you wear, some offer a little more protection to the wearer than others, but none are fool proof to the wearer

Had no symptoms other than nausea/vomiting/diarrhea. I wouldn't have even gotten tested but I work at a VA and wasn't going to risk infecting elderly veterans if there was any chance I actually had it.
