Gen Z and Millennials never pick up their phone. they always text

hate this shtt. impossible to get any work done cause I have to text back and forth for something I can say in less than 10 seconds.

Calls are commonly Inefficient: When you’re using messaging services you can dip in and out when you want. Furthermore, sending an email or message via an app you’re getting straight to the point without any ‘weather today’ small talk.
Calls can be annoying: Getting a presumptuous call from someone creates a negative reaction. People often sigh or roll their eyes when their needy or boring friend calls at an inconvenient time.
Calls are stressful: Everyone is so productivity-driven that, in many situations like work, calls can be stressful. You could be working on a deadline or rushing to get out the door and this buzzing distraction interrupts you at the wrong time.
People like to avoid conflict: Calls leave you little time to compose yourself. You can feel vulnerable in terms of how you come across and what you’re going to say.
Calls are rarely private: You can message until your heart is content in a room and no one will know what you’re saying. If you want a degree of privacy on the phone you’ll have to relocate yourself to stop people eavesdropping.

i pick up 95% of my phone calls

i may not pick up certain boomer client calls because i know they will go on and on about random chit that will waste my time


however when it comes to friends, i may not pick up 40% of the calls because i dont wanna talk on the phone.

I'm not sure when that switch happened. As a kid in the 90s, we only had the phone. brb ask parents to use phone, chat with friends. At some point, I got a cellphone, then a smart phone, and then all of a sudden everyone stopped phoning and exclusively began texting. So much so that if someone calls, it's just fuking strange at this point.

My boss/colleagues insist on calling me like 15 times a day for miniscule reasons and it really affects my productivity (negatively), so I try to keep it to text/emails as much as I can

I always pick up for friends though unless I can't

Don't understand this perception that millenials/gen z are lazy lol most people in my circle of friends are go-getters who work a ton. I myself put in 50-55 hours a week on average.

Calling is just inefficient. Calls are only for things that require emotional connection. If I need that for a deal, I’ll meet in person.

I’m almost 99% either text or meet in person. If you email me anything but an attachment, it may take a week to get back to you.
