seems impossible.. they have a site to bid on hem or something?

SAM.gov. (System for Award Management)

Register and get a cage code. It is free to register. If you go to a site that asks for payment, they are a third party and you are paying for their services in helping you set up the account. Not registering.

Just do it yourself though and if you have trouble call their help desk.


Also get on FEDBID (you will need the cage code from SAM)

Then you can bid on various projects, purchase orders, so on.

I work in Acquisitions/Procurement for the DoD - and pretty much this. There's other places besides Fedbid for finding solicitations/PRs though.

Dealing with the government, is of course quite a bit more complicated than just what is stated above, but that's the starting point.

Do not bid on something if you do not immediately have the ability to fill it.

I have had plenty of retailers or small companies place bids on stuff, knowing damn well they wouldn’t be able to fill it. Then they just BS you.

Things like bidding on an exact match item (specific brand name for warranty purposes for example), but only intend on sending you some generic off brand item. Then they expect you to just work with them.

Man I waisted so much time with companies just bull****ting me.

Obviously I advocate doing this, but don’t BS people.

Well I actually don't deal with that much, we don't really deal with commercial items (which it kind of sounds like what you're talking about?) at my agency.

Also my team unfortunately buys a bunch of electronic shyt (circut cards, transformers, wiring boards, etc) so you don't tend to run into that much. The flip side is you get a lot of stuff that's really difficult to obtain quotes for, lots of obsolescence issues, people expecting you to work miracles, etc.

That's my rant.
