some proper retarded schizos posts in this thread, but really imo masks are really the wrong thing to focus on its the wider picture. Its the fact i cannot actually see a end in sight to this "pandemic" which i dont believe warrants any of the restrictions we have seen to date anymore.

When the lockdown first happened, atleast 90% of people supported it, there was actually somewhat national unity to pull through and, as at the time as it was called, "flatten the curve" as there argument went this lockdown was necessary to avoid the health system being overwhelmed. This seemed reasonable when all the images firstly of china, then (what had the biggest and i believe impacted the UK anyway to act) in Italy showed chaos and we wanted to stop that.

Well as it turned out, yes many people sadly died, but what they all had overwhelmingly in common was they were either very old and died as a result of carehome outbreaks, or had numerous chronic health conditions. The death rate of 3-5% was actually (going off latest figures) pushing at best 0.2%. All the emergency hospitals barely accepted any patients.


Why exactly are we now, in october, on the verge of another lockdown with this information? If the plan is to wait for a vaccine, this isnt something coming in a few months but at best in year or more (and longer to fully roll it out). The virus isnt a serious threat anymore, we cant get rid of it like in some countries as we are too vast so we will have to live with it and take neccessary measures to protect the most vulnerable but not at the expense of the vast majority. These restrictions are killing business and are threatening one of the worst unemployment/debt crisis in decades.

Otherwise what it the endgoal? As currently there isnt a realistic one.
