Nice. I did 465 last week, 5 plates soon.jpg and then 500+ coming up!

I do the same thing. Lumberjack squats are good too. Basically a heavy goblet squat

Used to love doing deads but whenever I would rarely have an injury, it was always from deadlifts

Decided to stop doing them because I’m not a pro lifter, never want to be IFBB or anything like that, so I don’t want to risk a major injury for a stupid exercise

You can replace it with exercises that hit the same muscles and you’ll get the same results

I've recently started to rethink my approach to barbell lifts in favor of kettlebells. Never going to compete, feel like I'm hitting my natty limits anyway, and coming off some very minor back injuries from deads.

No way bro. You visited snap city.

Never had a back injury doing deads. Pulled my hammy twice though. Rushed the warm up both times. smh

Given them up years ago
Got sick of the back injuries
Last time I did them, did some working sets of 405, 12 reps, all is good
Finish my back workout, no problems
Go to bed, no problems
Wake up and can barely move

Still do squats though (harder than deadlifts imo)

Deadlifts are fine I think most of y'all for some reason think deadlift and you shoot for the maximum weight you can pull. I don't see this with any other lift but the deadlift.

You know that you dont need to pull 95% of your max 2-3 times a week right?

Never doing conventional again after sending my hammie to snap city, but I do 10-15 rep sets for either RDL or full range stiff leg deads every other week.

Always a squeezed pull and a slow, controlled eccentric and always done after hamstring curls

Did 405 for reps at 195, 185 and 175 a couple years ago when I was still a teen and realized deads are useless.

i got wedge compression and anterior tilt after deadlifts i still do them but not as heavy as others. keeping my progression on compounds the same weight. cause once u have a spine injury.... u don't **** around with that

Deadlifts are an amazing back builder, hamstring/quad builder, and overall great strength and conditioning exercise.

People deadlift too much as well. I used to deadlift 2x a week. While I got stronger, and it worked, after about 4-5 weeks the loads and recovery time do not match up and you're primed for injury.

People also need to do way more deadlift variances. Mix between deficit deadlifts, romanian deadlifts, trap bar deadlifts, and rack pulls.

My best numbers are 515lb max, and 315x26. Was trying for 30 but missed it two weeks in a row. Was only 205lbs at that time. But controlled t&g with a weight you can handle for reps you will build monster legs, a thick lower back, and your conditioning will sky rocket.

That was beautiful to watch. Basically exactly how I do my working sets when I deadlift. Controlled touch and go is by far the best way to do it unless you're a competitive powerlifter.

Looks like you had more in you too...

Question for hex bar brahs:

How does the range of motion work? I feel like using a hex bar would end up making the exercise a squat instead of a deadlift.

Been doing a 5x5+ with it and other lifts. Last session was 260lbs 4x5 - 1x10 (With Straps On Last Set) and I'm adding 5lbs a session. If I'm rekt I'll work up to a top set of RDL's and then back off 10% and do 1-2 more sets.

The only thing I say fuk it to is wearing my god damn belt!! I can't for the life of me get comfortable with it on. Wearing it high, low, high/low (high front and angled lower on the back).

I just can't do it. I feel more vulnerable with it on than off. Squat and bench feel good but I think I might need to get a deadlift specific belt.
