Well, part of the function of the vastus medialis is rotation of the knee cap. So wouldn't it make sense that changing how your knee is rotated would affect how that muscle is firing? Idk man, maybe it's just genetic but bodybuilders have talked about toes out for teardrop and toes in for outer sweep for a long time.

Historically speaking, bodybuilders have done some pretty dumb **** putting feel above logic. They're not all smart lol.

Just saying, nearly everyone I've seen do the toe pointing stuff Ends up rotating the knee in or out too..knee is a hinge joint, having it not align with the plane of the machine is an awful idea for knee health and also limits loading. So sure; an EMG might show more than activation, but is it more stimulus/tension for that muscle than using more load aligning normally? Highly doubtful

I'm not sure. I've heard that the leg extension is bad for your knees due to shearing (?) but I haven't had an issue with it so far. The vastus medialis was really important to me when developing my legs since it's the muscle that's most immediately apparent when wearing shorts so I did a lot to emphasize it. I used to get compliments pretty frequently at a gym that was frequented by a few pro bbers and more serious guys but it could have just been genetic I guess uwu.

A lot of people need to look past squatting to "depth" and focus more on getting full knee flexion in a squatting pattern (hams to calf). Hacks, smith, machine squats, pendulum etc are all usually better options than a barbell if you want to grow quads

Thanks man. I just started doing different variations to hit my quads more. Definitely a weak point for me.

As far as training legs I think people over-rate it. In my experience you really don't have to do anything crazy. 3 warmup sets of squats then 3 working sets. (As deep as you can go/ATG). 2-3 working sets on a hamstring focused movement. 2-3 working sets of another quad focused movement (Leg press or leg extension). 4 working sets on calves in a 20 rep range.

Every 4 to 5 days ^. All kind of craziness is not needed. You don't need to vomit or limp out the gym.
I agree. Leg days for me are usually around 8 sets.

ITT: too many virgins who don't realize that women like strong legs on a guy

Emphasis onwomen, for the "if there's grass on the field..." losers on this forum.

JFL if women aren't checking you out while you squat. I do front foot elevated bulgarian split squats just to make sure I go nice and deep. So women know: it's all about being balls deep in that snatch.

You're not fooling anyone, bitch boy. You're mad because Australian women go to the mayor's office in Pound Town with me and ignore your low test, bottom bitch self.
