Insertions have no bearing on force production because everyone's tendons insert into the same place anatomically. Where insertions start to matter is the limit to how much muscle you can put on, allowing you to produce more force.

I remember Frank Yang talking about shorter muscles being more explosive, but who tf knows with him. I've also heard of long bellies having greater strength potential in the long run (just takes longer to build).
Random fuks over here seem to corroborate these things. Seems like it's not a big deal overall though.

Yeah i dont think people have any clue what origins and insertions actually are. Lets look at the Bench Press and the pectorals

The pectoralis major inserts on the medial aspect of the humerus and to get a full activation of a muscle, you first need to get the origin and insertion points as far away from each other as possible (a stretch) and then bring them as close together as possible (contraction) but both in a safe manner. If the insertion point is not in the same place on the humerus then the force generation would be extrememly varied because the momentum arm would be vastly differnet. THis principle is the exact same int he biceps too because i see this type of flawed logic applied there all the time

I've always had the impression, especially from wrestling that people with really long muscles feel way stronger. But no clue if bro sceince, my imagination or just a coincidence due to small sample size.
What causes muscles (especially bis) looking longer or shorter?
