Misc You Mirin My Grocery Haul? (Pics)

Vegetable grocery haul from the backyard. Spinach and radishes. Pus 2 pictures of my local grocery store. Cooking later tonight with them and going to cut off some parsley for the chicken. Didn't even put a dent into my spinach. Carrots and beets will be good to go in 2-3 weeks. Swiss Chard in about 1-2 weeks and I can even start cutting now.

I love spinach and radishes, srs. I haven't had radishes in forever though. Growing up, my family used to have radishes with the antipasto at holidays dinners. Good memories.

I saw a grocery store employee being harassed about a year ago (punching her car windows, screaming). She’s old-75-80. A real nice lady. Anyway when this happened I hoped out of my car and ran over asking if she needed me to handle it. Guy called down and she told me it was her estranged son.

Now she gives me her employee discount lol.

Yea these are the french radish ones. I don't like them as much as the red crimson (the usual red ball ones) which I also have. Really good sauteed with oil and some salt, or cut thin in salad. Yea my dad's side did the same thing so that's the only time I have eaten them prior to this.

"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Had no luck growing spinach or mesclun in my container garden, cannot imagine having enough to sustain us but thankfully leafy greens are dirt cheap.

GJ on those radishes, even though this pic begs to be photoshopped...

Nah bro these are my vitamins and minerals. I have a little carrots, spinach, radishes and peppers all sauteed for my vegetable side every meal. Trust me I am starting full on bulk mode. A lot Chicken with parsley, sticky sushi rice, ground beef, finger potatoes and vegetables for lunches dinners, post workout meal. Breakfast is eggs, raw whole milk, vegetables, oatmeal with blueberries and peanut butter. and eventually bacon. Snacks are dried fruit/nuts and whole fat cheese. Other meals are greek yogurt with blueberries and blackberries or I make these high calorie peanut butter/chocolate/oatmeal bar things to eat with it. Drink a lot of raw whole milk. Just increase portion sizes as I grow. Mix in some cheat meals or eating out once in a while and I grow like a weed.

Nah I decided to try these as well. Don't taste as good as red crimson. Probably won't grow again though. Regular bulb shaped ones are the best.

Nice pocket rocket there OP.
Yea I had no luck with half of my herbs like rosemary, mint, lavender, and my thyme is pretty pathetic. Parsley and basil killed it but we had a cold night last weekend while I was at a wedding and it wrecked my lettuce and basil. So pissed. My spinach was getting wrecked by bugs and the sun towards the beginning, but the last 2 weeks it absolutely flourished when I added some fertilizer.

And yea the radishes look like little penises. Always cracks me up.

Yea a lot of people by me had a hard time this year with tomatoes. I won't even try it in these pots for that reason. They had the same problem as you. A lot of foliage and green tomatoes.

My basil and parsley crushed, but just lost a lot of basil from a random cold night while I was out for a wedding. And my rosemary is pathetic. I'm jealous yours is killing it. I have 3 little baby things that haven't budged in a month.

Juice them for max gains.

Been juicing for a week and my achilles tendonitis is slowly going away.

Quickly becoming my favorite gadget since it's so quick.

I'll cut up bananas and freeze them overnight.

When I wake up throw in bananas, spinach, berries, chocolate almond milk olive/coconut oil, and some glutamine.

Probably will look for more vegetables to use.

Shake takes less than five minutes to make.

Yea the best part is that spinach regrows as you cut it. So I plan to use half of my beets that I get to juice them with spinach and a bunch of fruit for morning shakes. Rest of my beets I am going to pickle or boil and then cut them up and eat with cheese.

Haven't used my juicer since last summer. Perfect for the morning imo.

Helps with trying to get in 7-8 servings a day.

Beets are really good for blood pressure.

I have this beet powder stuff I should be drinking but man I'm already taking 100 supplements, it's like when is enough enough?

Thanks brah. Just figure out what you want to grow, and figure out your set up and just go at it. I never had my own garden and just randomly decide to do this one weekend. Started this Aug. 27th for most of this stuff. Then did some more 2 weeks later. All this in a little over a month.

Be warned though get a game plan for dealing with pest, fertilizing, and preventing fungus/diseases. Youtube is your bible haha.

Yea that's too much for me. I just eat vegetables with every meal now that cover my vitamin and mineral intake. Add some fruit too. I only take vit C and D3+K2 for supplements. Feel great this way.

Reps for fellow gardener. I currently have the following in my backyard: bananas, mango, lychee, papaya, figs, coconuts, tangelo, passionfruit, grapes, mulberry, blackberry, strawberry, and pineapple. Will be planting avocado, pomegranate, and miracle fruit in the next couple months.

Yup you live and you learn. My first garden so every mistake I make I just write down what to do for next time and tips for preventing it.

I actually just checked my rosemary and it is doing a little better. Still pretty small but getting thicker and looks strong. We'll see what happens.

Now that's a fukking garden. You Florida brahs and your prime fruit growing weather. Not going to lie I am jealous. Can't grow much cool fruit in IL. Just the basics and the ones that don't need tropical weather.

Any veggies or mainly fruits? How do figs, lychee, and tangelo taste?

I may want to move to florida now.

Figs are fuking delicious. I have three young trees which fruit their first year from cuttings and have picked hundreds of figs the past two years. Unfortunately figs don't ship well and have a short shelf life so most people have never had them fresh but they might be the most delicious fruit ever.

Haven't harvested any lychees or tangelos yet. I moved into my house two and a half years ago which is when I started planting so I have not gotten a harvest on many of my trees yet.

I grew tons of peppers and cucumbers, got ok results with eggplants and tomatoes (they have trouble in the heat) and have consistent basil plants, but no other veggies. I'm more into the feeling of picking something off the plant and having it tasting delicious and you just can't get that feeling with veggies. People that haven't had REAL plant-ripened fruit just don't know how flavorful and sweet fruit can get.

But yeah when I was doing house hunting my one big deal breaker was having a big backyard to plant fruit trees. I can't wait for another few years when they become established and I get consistent harvests every year.

I'm literally salivating thinking about picking off fresh fruit from the backyard to eat. That is basically my dream right there. That's what I am looking for in the spring when I buy a place. My goal is to get a little extra land so I can have a full garden, and then plant different berry bushes, apple trees, lemon trees, pears, cherries, plums, etc.

I know it takes years sometimes to get the actual fruit and have a good yield, but it is worth it. You just got me pumped for when I get my place. You're right too, vegetables aren't quite like picking off a prime fruit, and tasting absolute heaven of fresh taste. I did that with a radish and it wasn't the same lol

When did you plant your tomatoes? If too much heat was the problem you might do better planting them for fall. Or try to find varieties for hot weather. TX has both these (fall planting and special varieties), so I would think FL does too.

You should be able to grow apples, pears, cherries, and all the berries up in IL.

Have you tried Icicle radishes? Those and the red round ones are what my family grew.

Just increase portion sizes as I grow. Mix in some cheat meals or eating out once in a while and I grow like a weed.

Nah I decided to try these as well. Don't taste as good as red crimson. Probably won't grow again though. Regular bulb shaped ones are the best.
Sounds like a great recomp diet. Thats always my plan too but i end up fuking up and adding anything i feel like eating lol. Have you been training the last few months?
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Yup that is my plan. Any fruit I can grow in IL climate I'll try to grow haha.

No I decided to go with french breakfast radish instead of icicle. Wish I didn't. The french breakfast is too woody. I didn't grow it too long either. My crimson red (the red round ones) were very small sadly but tasted great. Good spice and no woody flavor. But I grew more foliage than the actual radish. Although I used basic miracle gro soil for some of my plants and not organic soil. All the ones in organic soil grew so much better.

No I started 2 weeks ago lol. I mean I did a day here and there up until about 16 days ago. I've been hitting it hard in my garage though.

And don't worry I've been eating chick fil a for one meal every day too. But now that I am getting into feeling better physically and harvesting more of my vegetables, I am going to stick to this clean bulk for the next month. I'll loosen up for the holidays and bust out the crock pot too.

Don't worry I usually always fuk up and just pound whatever too. This time might be different though. You start bulking yet?
