I know there are a few that aren't on that CEO $10K a day time.

Commercial Removals and Salvage

At least for a minute or two there should be a lot of work clearing out commercial spaces. Salvage the best stuff (resale on the secondary market), scrap the metal if the salvage value isn't there, and haul off the rest for trash.

January isn't too far off and for a lot of companies that is the start of their new fiscal year.

You might find work as muscle or sales. Or if you are up for it you might file a DBA, make a business plan, lease some equipment and space, and do it on your own. I don't know that I would want to "own" much or have much permanent labor, but there shouldn't be too much of a shortage of workers.

It's a local market kind of thing. Prices are up (according to my brother) particularly on aluminum. More people are doing it right now (scrap and salvage), but most are individuals working alone without a lot of knowledge. He recently came across someone that purchased a commercial property that was formerly small scale manufacturing that is loaded with stuff. The tenant left it behind and the purchaser needs it out to flip the property, or lease it to another business. But my brother doesn't have the skills to jump into a business like that on his own AFAIK.

I would expect there will be at least a temporary glut in used restaurant equipment, maybe office supplies, commercial furnishings. Some could be absorbed by individuals (want that professional stove, can use supplies for a home office) or by nonprofits. Some stuff won't bounce back/better to scrap. And some might be worth hanging on to if you have cheap storage as a lack of demand should lead to a reduced supply of new goods making used goods more valuable. See: stupid high used car prices right now.

CEO 10k a day here.

Tried to start up a business on this using day labor tradies.

Leoslayer came in and underbid me on all the jobs and now we have no work.

He has an unfair advantage, his lower COL with that trailer. My CEO mansion cost a lot to maintain. I cant make it work vs his low bids.


Need to find another niche.

I know a couple of people who do this. Basically you get paid to take things you can then sell.

I donโ€™t know how much they make but they both support families doing it. Of course itโ€™s vital to be good at making contacts etc like in any business.

Iโ€™d definitely consider it if I needed work.

Oh I hate selling stuff like that. Rather donate or trash.

Doesn't mean there isn't money in it.

Here there is a big scrapyard that is open 365 days a year and few businesses that may take stuff like restaurant equipment to resell to the trade.

Don't have a husband. And the two I did have weren't suited to this either- big ol' opera singer and dad bod IT guy with a bad back/bad heart.





IT guy was laid off several times, at least 3 of them right around Christmas. And I didn't nag him or lay into him at all. Was sympathetic and just cut spending as much as possible.
