Huge sales with amazon prime. I bought the oasis in july for $320 and now it's on sale on prime day for $235.
Also bought a philips wake up light for $200 which was already with 10% discount, and now it has 30% discount on amazon.
Yes my jimmies are a bit rustled.

Can you imagine being this dumb and thinking you're smarter than people?
E-readers are not superfluous gadgets and exist for a good reason, using a phone or tablet is not even close.

Yes, get a paper white. I've had the Kindle paper white touch for about 8 or so years. Love it. Doesn't strain your eyes and you can read it just like a book on a sunny day outside with no glare. I get my books from the public library Overdrive system.

There are a ton of free ebooks available. You're not going to find big publishers free on Amazon, but if you're looking for something random, you'll have no shortage of free reading just from Amazon alone.

It's definitely worth it imo. The kindle oasis is amazing and waterproof so you can read in a bath etc, but if you're on a budget then the paper white is also great.
you can get almost any book online for free if you know where to look. So the thing basically pays for itself.
i used to spend a lot of money on expensive hardcover books, but they took a lot of space, always had to be careful when reading it because i didn't want to damage them, didn't really enjoy taking them with me on trips.
With an ebook reader, you can have hundreds/thousands of books with you at all times. It's just super convenient and battery life lasts forever.

It wakes you up naturally if you're facing it. The problem is, i sleep a lot facing the wall so then it doesn't wake me up.
To counter this, i just set it an hour earlier than when i want to wake up so if i do turn and face the lamp, i wake up naturally.
Another solution is to have 2 lamps on each side of your bed if you're a side sleeper. But who would spend $320 on alarm lights?
Still it helps not waking up to a completely dark room and it also serves as a night light, radio etc.
You can also have it wake you up with light + sound/radio but the downside is it doesn't let you upload personal sounds.

I highly recommend an origami case. One that you can fold so it stands up.
Don't spend $60 for those chitty amazon cases that can't do anything.
These are magnetic, automatically turns the kindle off-on when you open or close it, can stand up right in both positions and only costs $12 with free shipping.
Waiting time might be 1-2 months but it's worth it imo.
You can also probably buy the same one on amazon with faster shipping for a little bit more expensive.

Make sure you get a case that fits your e-reader since the oasis is bigger than the paper white.

The paperwhite is a great ebook reader for on a budget. But a lot of people said they absolutely love the bigger screen on the oasis.
Also the physical buttons are great and it's water proof.
After hours of looking up reviews, in the end people said it's not worth upgrading to an oasis if you have a paper white,
but if you don't have an ebook reader yet at all, definitely get the oasis. For the many years of reading experience, spending a little extra is worth it imo.

The problem is you can't actually buy these books. You purchase a license to access them on Amazon's servers. They can be revoked at any time for no reason.

Why would you buy books with so many pirated websites dedicated to ebooks? You don't buy a movie if you want to watch it online either do you?
Also these ebook readers come with great features. If you press your finger on a word, the meaning of said word shows up with the dictionary.
Making reading a lot easier if it's a book with a large vocabulary.

Brb making highlights without ruining a book.
Brb no need to worry about mold or anything getting on your books.
Real books are great but they're expensive, take space, heavy, prone to damage. After i went the e-book way i'll never go back.

Just lol @ buying any $200+ item through amazon

I’m convinced their warehouses get the b grade products from the original manufacturer and that’s how they make a major % of their profit (they’re essentially buying second hand and retailing it as brand new)

Pay a bit more through the original retailer, get product support and knowing you’re buying exactly what you pay for

I've had a paperwhite for a long time and been happy with it.

For $80 (prime day special) the newer paperwhite that is waterproof and can play audiobooks is a little tempting.

Because eye strain. That's the main difference. But also battery life. Being able to read under any lighting condition. Water proof. You can't compare an ebook reader with an ipad.
But if you do want to read one from an ipad, then you're free to do so.

I've had a Paperwhite for a few years now. I like it but it sucks for holding it one-handed and the UI is laggy.

Wake up light is absolutely worth it. Wake up light + apple watch alarm means i never have to wake up to a jarring phone alarm again.
