President Trump’s Columbus Day Proclamation

A lot of anger in media and academia, but lots of support and celebration with patriotic Americans.

Your thoughts?

https://www.whitehouse.gov/president...mbus-day-2020/

Excerpt:

“Sadly, in recent years, radical activists have sought to undermine Christopher Columbus’s legacy. These extremists seek to replace discussion of his vast contributions with talk of failings, his discoveries with atrocities, and his achievements with transgressions. Rather than learn from our history, this radical ideology and its adherents seek to revise it, deprive it of any splendor, and mark it as inherently sinister. They seek to squash any dissent from their orthodoxy. We must not give in to these tactics or consent to such a bleak view of our history. We must teach future generations about our storied heritage, starting with the protection of monuments to our intrepid heroes like Columbus. This June, I signed an Executive Order to ensure that any person or group destroying or vandalizing a Federal monument, memorial, or statue is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Christopher Columbus not only shouldn't be celebrated, but he was wrong about Earth's size. He grossly underestimated the size of the Earth.

You're all in. Whatever the far left dems say you agree with. The dems re-write history about Christopher Columbus from being a positive part of history for hundreds of years, to the last couple of months into some criminal and you take it all in.

You show your colors very well.

No dude. I asked how Americans (A nation founded in 1776 from the descendants of British ) justify their claim to this most remote of claims: the legacy of an Italian who worked for Spain and landed in Cuba in 1492.

I don’t think you understand how an identity and the mythos of a people are formed. Columbus is an American hero because Americans have decided to make him one. Columbus represents the Western European expansion into the New World. Certain Scandinavian/Icelandic people were here before him from Europe, also there are tantalizing clues that Phoenicians, Celts, Welsh, and West African Muslims were all here before Columbus as well (Pre-Columbian crypto-history is really interesting), and Amerigo Vespucci and Richard Amerike also have fascinating stories...but we chose Columbus to symbolize, for us, all of us, no matter what ancestry or how long we have had ancestors in the Americas, the “discovery” of the Americas.

Hi Wincel. I keep meaning to school you on the cave allegory lol remind to do so one of these days.

That's fcking dumb lmao

Dumbest **** I ever heard.

"Yeah, we like statues of Columbus because weLike what he represents." Like he's some idea, That's like building a Statue to ANTIFA.

Facts are facts, bucko. This guy also depopulated the entirety of Cuba and the majority of the Caribbean through his slave ships and general unhygienic men.

You want to claim attachment to a dude on a boat as if it represents some grand and majestic ideology. You are so sad.

Your whole reality is some dumb patriotic lie lol

Lol you are literally too stupid to understand my dear Wincel. You have trouble understanding the basics of reality for a people and it’s civilization.

You only see to the tip of your nose in the cave. Not only can you not see further and farthest, but you have no capability of even discerning the shadows on the wall. You are so blind...lol
