Do we really want EVERYONE to vote?

I really don’t think that we should encourage everyone to vote. There are so many knuckleheads that are uneducated, absolutely retarded, and have no skin in the game.

Do we really want someone that can barely read voting? Do we really want someone that can’t do basic math voting? Do we really want someone that has no idea how taxes work voting?

What about people non-retired people who live entirely off welfare and other entitlements? Do we really want them voting? Should non-property owners be able to vote to increase property taxes? (Not because they’re renting, but because there’s a strong chance they will no longer reside in district in a years time, and also aren’t established to the long term repercussions).

It just doesn’t seem like it’s a good idea to have every single person voting.

I think this is fair.

Although, I think a person should have a high school education at minimum.

Pretty sure no one receives more taxes than they pay. If you are talking about tax returns, its because you overpaid your taxes.

2 things should determine voting privilege:

1) payment of taxes
2) military service

And honestly we should make it 3... and repeal the 19th.

I think we should do away with voting.

Set a series of tests up and have these candidates earn their respective seats the same way athletes earn championships on the field

No one is voting for SuperBowl champ or WS champ. They go out and compete against the best to earn it.

If that means one person is superior and has a lengthy run as president then so be it, they were the best for the job.

Lol at voting and letting imbeciles decide your county’s future. So outdated

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Actually I think it would be better that everyone voted instead of just the 1/3rd that does vote.

I think it would really be good if we went back to the old rules of voting such as you had to be a natural born citizen who owned land.

So it’d be good for everyone to vote then you contradict yourself by saying it’d be good to restrict voting to natural born land owners

Confirmed low IQ and perfect example of who shouldn’t be voting.

I'm hearing a lot of good ideas, there should be some standard.

Non criminal
Land owner

Also would accept,
Some aptitude test
Pays taxes, net not a taker but an actual payer.

This would be a double edged sword. Technically, everyone is allowed to vote, the reality is that pretty much only a little over half ever actually vote. If everyone truly voted, I wonder how the results would turn out. Would it be the same? Would it be more left or right? Or would Independents have a larger spot? I was mulling over a few ideas in my head before this and what if it was made that you couldn't claim your tax returns if you voted? Or if you would face a yearly tax if you did not vote. Then going onto the whole knuckleheads voting thing, it might make the political parties focus in on those areas where people might not be as educated to vote and inform them, maybe even throw money and support their way to help them.

I think that everyone should really vote. I mean in the last election my cousin was bitching the high heavens that she could not believe that Donald Trump won the election. Then when I asked her who she voted for she said "I didn't vote". I asked her who she supported and she said Hillary. Then I asked why didn't she vote and she then said "I didn't feel comfortable casting a ballot for her to be the first woman in the White House". I went off on her and told her she is the reason why the system is so messed up. Don't complain about the game if you aren't even playing.

Only people aged 25 - 70 who can pass a fairly straightforward civics test should get a ballot, and they can only vote for a politician if they can correctly answer a few multiple-choice questions about that politician's policies.

Thats kind of the point. Find someone that probably wasnt planning on voting in the first place who is uneducated and, lets say, highly autistic (knows nothing about politics), but will do something because he/she thinks it will make people like them. Neither dems nor republicans are above getting to vote for them with the barest of background info but we all know who will commit voter fraud. I highly doubt politicians really care about us lowly voters anyway. If we stopped voting for them, they would just vote for us
