It's really a great way to start the day. I typically go empty stomach just because I'm already up at 4AM to get to the gym at 445.....that's early enough for me to wake up. Don't know if you use any, but intraworkout carbs/electrolytes/sodium make a big difference. I use Dextrose + Nunn hydration tabs.

Workouts are good, hardest part is waking up
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.
-I'd rather live life saying "I failed" than "I could have"

A 10 minute walk around the block usually wakes me up enough to get going, but it's a miracle if I stay up past 9:30 anymore.Morning workouts have been much better for me. I used to train at 5PM, but I've been training at 430-5AM now for about 5 years. The only negative of morning training is that it takes a bit for your body to feel awake and ready to go. A quick walk on the treadmill is always a good idea (something I need to start doing again)
More energy in the morning, and the satisfaction knowing it's done for the day and the whole evening is yours to enjoy. Also - it's nice starting your day with something enjoyable, instead of work, lol.
EDIT: ^^ can confirm, am a boring old Fuk, lol. I'm passing out by 9pm.

Train hard, train smart, have fun!
