Now I need a plate carrier and everyone's out of stock except AR500. They have the Testudo and Veritas carriers. What's everyone's thoughts on these? Are they decent or no? And if anyone knows of any better in stock carriers, please do suggest.

Second about LPVOs... Based on my research, the Vortex 1-6x is the best LPVO under $1500. Is there another option I should consider? To those who have experience with both, how does an LPVO compare to a red dot (like comp m5) + magnifier combo

Thanks,

On AK vs AR, shoot whatever you like. Friend has a cool video from when he was in Afghanistan, they found some burned up/rusted AKs in a blown out home, looked like they'd been there for years. Dumped oil on them and cycled a few times, they still ran like champs.

Trying to decide if I want to finish it in black, or just a clear enamel to protect it and keep the unfinished look.

I’d still take the ar. I’ll scavenge oil from cars or small engines or equipment garages dipsticks whatever keep it oiled carry it it’ll run.

Been out of commission all day. Wife and her friends decided they wanted to have a Halloween party in our greenhouse. So we cleaned it out yesterday and I woke up with my sinuses shut and a massive headache. Still haven’t eaten anything today.

Also, found out my realtor is cousins with Bill Clinton. WTF. All of the people that work for my wife are foreigners. So she sets them up with the same realtor every time they move here and buy a house. She was in her office yesterday and there’s pictures of her with Bill Clinton everywhere. Wife goes, uh what’s up with that? Realtor goes o, Bill is my cousin. Wife goes wtf I bought 2 houses from you wish I knew that.

PTRs are bad ass. ive always like the oldschool roller delayed blowback style firearms, and theres something very appealing about a .308 MP5. they are known for being very reliable and decently accurate, especially if you upgrade the trigger, but a downside is that magazine changes are very slow. its more of an interesting retro piece of history than a fully capable battle rifle. but they do work well

heres a picture of mine, shown at the very top of the pic

and of course the G3 pistol, Vector V51. i can get some better pictures of the PTR later if anyone wants to see some G3 porn

dont let your stupid biases get in the way of doing what you want to do, which is collect cool firearms simply because you like them rather than only buying modernized weapons...

FAL is goat battle rifle.

I’d have one if ammo wasn’t so expensive right now. I don’t really like buying guns unless I can shoot them a bunch.

Bought a TX22 Friday and blasted 500 rounds as fast as I could load them. Twas fun, only had 1 malfunction which I’ll consider a success for a semi auto 22. I just wanna shoot man, 60 cpr 9 mm is a joke.

All guns are chit if you never maintain them. Continuous metal on metal contact with foreign impediments is a recipe for failure and eventually replacement. ARs are built as an enclosed system to keep gunk out of the moving parts. AKs just have more simplistic engineering such that a field strip is done more easily, and parts are less susceptible to freezing stuck in icy conditions. Actual operation in dirty conditions is still prone to jamming as seen in the many torture tests online, anyone who says otherwise is propagating fudd lore.

Is it even possible to buy a shotgun right now? I'd like to start hunting small game and need a lot of practice at the range, but inventory seems to be non-existent since COVID.

What type of shotgun? Over under, pump, semi-auto? Budget?

Ammo is much harder to find than a gun right now.

Around me, pretty much all shotgun ammo is out, only target loads in stock; most people don't know or care about effectiveness between bird and buck or slug, if it goes bang they assume it's good enough.

I'd add Maverick 88 to that list, I can find those at Big 5 still from time to time, it's a cheaper version of the Mossberg 500. Might not be top tier or anything but for an entry level budget gun it would be fine.

This is in stock, no clue on the manufacturer's quality, but it's under $500.

Almost stayed for OT this morning but the new Warden and an Associate Director from Sac are touring and auditing today, decided to nope the fck out of there and go home.
