After you've been doing it for a while it gets easier.
My life is great now, It was hard in my twenties, brutal from 27-33. Then it starting lightening up as I approached 40. From 39 to now its gotten better and better. I could do my day almost with my eyes closed.

Solid post.

The question is, what should we be doing the hard way, and what is a waste of time doing the hard way?

When it comes to health, the cards i received in life have been not been all that wonderful. It is what it is. Life could be worse for me and I'm grateful that it is not.

My life is EZ mode.
Id say 0/10 for difficulty, but I'm sure there's others who have it even easier so I guess I'll say 1/10 difficulty.
No kids, no debt, goat health, very little bills, extremely happy with what I have.

I suffer from some OCD (not the one that everyone self diagnoses because they like to put their color pencils in order) and I wish I had those problems instead.
Mental health is everything, if the mind gives up the body has nothing to look up to. Its like the 300 spartans going to war without King Leonidas

-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.
-I'd rather live life saying "I failed" than "I could have"

I'd say obesity's cons are far worse than staying fit's cons.The question is, what should we be doing the hard way, and what is a waste of time doing the hard way?

Life is hard but life can be easy too
I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be engulfed, every hill shall be exalted and every mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plains and the crooked places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.

My life is not that hard, Alhumdullilah.
It would be a shame to say it is since I've worked very hard to put into place good habits and risk-aversive mechanisms that would cause me to have a difficult life.

Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.

Once you express gratitude daily you start to look at life different and all your problems don't seem big or as big of a deal anymore srs.

Pretty easy right now. My hardest times were going through school, 2000-2004, then 2012-2015. Otherwise easy mode. Especially now. Used to work 35 hrs a week pre covid, now 20 if I'm lucky, salaried, so I get the same pay. Still get praised by the boss, which when I have work it it top notch and no one else in my department can do it.
So I do work when there is work then watch movies, lift and whatever else is necessary. So in other words, I have it on easy mode right now. But I actually hope to go back in office soon.

- Although when my life was "hard" in my early twenties I never actually thought it was hard going through it. I just did it.
Looking back now I was like FUarkkkkk I put in a lot of work.
Only 'hard' part these days is finding motivation and not being stuck in complacency mode.

On paper not too hard
Anxiety and depression has been exponentially growing since the shut down though. Makes easy takes hard. Working through it though.
