"Michigan bans open carry of guns at polling locations"

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mic...ling-locations

Michigan announced a ban on Friday of the open carry of guns at polling places to avoid voter harassment and intimidation during the critical swing state election. The announcement by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson drew a quick rebuke from some Republicans and gun rights activists, including the National Rifle Association, but the Democratic official said firearms at voting sites could cause fear and disruption for election workers and Michiganders trying to cast their ballots on Nov. 3.

“Fair, free and secure elections are the foundation of our democracy,” Benson said in a statement. “I am committed to ensuring all eligible Michigan citizens can freely exercise their fundamental right to vote without fear of threats, intimidation or harassment. Prohibiting the open-carry of firearms in areas where citizens cast their ballots is necessary to ensure every voter is protected."

At least one county sheriff said he won't enforce the ban. "An order is an order and, quite frankly, is unenforceable," Mike Murphy, sheriff of Livingston County, which is located northwest of Detroit, told the paper. "They have no authority to supersede law.”
TX law prohibits carrying at polling places at all, even concealed.

Missouri is the same, but:

"There are 17 places that firearms are prohibited by the State of Missouri. Under the Missouri Permit-Less Concealed Carry Law, you can still be charged up to a misdemeanor for having a firearm on these premises by carrying the firearm permit-less. If you have a Missouri Concealed Carry Firearms Permit and carry a firearm in a location where firearms are prohibited, you will not have any criminal charges pressed against you. These 17 locations in which firearms are prohibited are:

-Any police, sheriff, or highway patrol office or station. (You can carry here with permission if you have a Missouri CCW.)

-Within twenty-five feet of any polling place on any Election Day.

-The facility of any adult or juvenile detention or correctional institution, prison or jail

-Any courthouse or building used by a court

-Any government meeting, including state legislature

-Bars (except owners). (You can carry here with permission if you have a Missouri CCW.)

-Any area of an airport to which access is controlled by the inspection of persons and property

-Any place where the carrying of a firearm is prohibited by federal law (crimes fall under federal law)

-Any school (including colleges). (You can carry here with permission from the school board if you have a Missouri CCW.)

-Any child care facility. (You can carry here with permission if you have a Missouri CCW.)

-Any casino. (You can carry here with permission if you have a Missouri CCW.)

-Any gated area of an amusement park

-Any church or other place of religious worship. (You can carry here with permission if you have a Missouri CCW.)

-Any private property conspicuously posted off-limits to concealed firearms with 11×14-inch sign with one-inch letters. (You can carry here with permission if you have a Missouri CCW.)

-Any sports arena or stadium with a seating capacity of five thousand or more

-Any hospital accessible by the public

-Government owned buildings except public housing."

I'm not exactly clear on what the response would be, or what it would mean for you if your concealed EDC was detected. Just because you wouldn't be charged with a misdemeanor doesn't mean it wouldn't quite possibly be a real pain in the ass.

Fun fact...err.... interpretation of law.

Florida banned conceal carry at any "place of nuisance". When looking up the law on what a place of nuisance is, it lists anywhere that breaks state laws.

There has to be some way this in interpreted by judges or prosecutors otherwise it's basically illegal to conceal carry anywhere lmao.

But yeah, can't carry at polling places, either.

If you’re not picky about barrel length, you shouldn’t have much trouble finding a Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88. It’ll likely be overpriced, but that’s just the way it is right now.

I see lots of people finding pretty reasonably priced Mavericks at their local gun shops/big box stores, so you might want to start there first.

You'll probably be waiting a long time for prices to come down...if they ever do.

I bought a spare stripped upper and lower and spare rebuild parts recently.

Slower reload, less capacity, heavier trigger pull (may be a bonus if you like that).

Used to do my off duty course with my Rhino for shts and giggles, I could barely pass in the time due to reloads, even with enough speed loaders to do it all.

carry el mexicano????

always like revolvers, but can't get by with the very low capacity and external hammer. too worried about when needing to use it, something gets caught under the hammer and no boom. Very reliable outside of those factors. Unless you supplement with another? I know people that carry two. I used to but don't anymore. Might do it again now that winter is coming and can bundle up nice with cold weather gear.
