“Even though we're female athletes playing at a high level, our worlds, you know, the soccer world and the basketball world are just totally different,” Bird explained to CNN Sport reporter Don Riddell.

“And to be blunt it's the demographic of who's playing. Women's soccer players generally are cute little White girls while WNBA players, we are all shapes and sizes ... a lot of Black, gay, tall women ... there is maybe an intimidation factor and people are quick to judge it and put it down,” she said.

Sorry but the WNBA overall is just bad. I could put on a wig and dominate it myself.

Soccer is more popular because its played all over the world while black women have pigeonholed themselves into just the WNBA. It has nothing to do with "cute white girls".

terrible sport to watch, fun to play. you have 7 foot people dunking on 10 foot rims. 150 years ago when the game was invented there were no 7 foot people. raise the rims to 15 feet to maybe make it at least a little bit interesting. right now it's nothing more than just watching a game of monkey-dunk. games too slow and boring, too many games. It's unwatchable and terrible.

Lower the rim by a foot and you'll see more dunks and more athletes rather than giant blobs who can't run or do anything. That might actually make it a more exciting game to watch.

Not gonna lie if the women's beach volleyball players weren't hot I doubt I'd watch but when that chit comes on TV I find myself mesmerized. For me to watch soccer they'd have to not only be hot but naked with a chance of making out with each other. I've tried to like soccer I really have but I just can't watch that chit. Rugby on the other hand is really fun to watch
