Finally caught a pompano just at 12". Grilled over hickory with lime. salt, pepper, garlic.

Was freaking delicious. Grilled fish is the best.

Hit the local trib Saturday and cleaned up on rock bass. Probably caught 20 palm-sized rockies and 2 or 3 smallmouth in about 2 hours wading. I brought along a small tackle box with me and never even reached for it. I kept the same silver & white rooster tail on the entire time lol.

Also, I recently switched from Power Pro Plus to Suffix 832 on my ultralight setup and I absolutely love it. Suffix seems to cast considerably further with minimal effort too. I had no problems pulling up branches and slinging shotting out of snags and other problems. I am using the 20lb test / 6lb diameter braid and it is spectacular so far.

My son caught a catfish yesterday so big it straightened the hook. It came off right at his feet.

We only caught 3 fish all weekend but they were huge.

I don't have any idea what I'm doing, but there is a group of guys going soon and I think I'll go along.

If I were to catch like 5 total fish over two days, I'd be ecstatic. I'll post itt when I get back.

I use Mepps aglia spinners, plain, gold, #1 and #2. I want to try copper and brass spinners, since you can get them cheaper, but haven't had a chance yet. Also, cast upstream and in deeper water and by objects (trees, rocks, etc). Trout like to hide and feel safe

I am done with trout for the year I think. We had very, very little rain and super warm temps from late June until just yesterday, so I haven't fished for them since late June. Finally lower temps and rain today, but I am guessing the weeds are just too high now and season closes in a month. If we get frost before then, I will probably give it another go.

Have been too lazy to drive 15 minutes and buy bait, so I haven't fished in a month or so. Going to go out tonight and pick up some crawlers and go for perch/bluegill this weekend

Another story. When in middle/high school I like in Anchorage for a few years since my parents were stationed at Ft Richardson. Towards the end of our tour there we decided to get one last camping trip in. I forgot the exact name but it was about 30-40 minutes past Eagle River. King salmon were still coming in so everyone and their mother was out fishing. I was up fishing about 1am, the sun was still out. I hooked one and never saw it surface... It went everywhere it wanted for about 10 minutes. It eventually got tired and I started reeling it in, then my slack got loose... It was gone. =(

This was back in around 2002ish. I still have dreams to this day of getting that fish.

Thats why you have a decent sized pistol on you. Dad had a 44 every time we went out.
I must've been lucky because I only saw maybe 3 bears the whole time I was there and they were usually far away. They would have warning sirens in some areas if a bear was spotted.

Fished a local waterway and got some nice sized bluegill (and some smaller ones mixed in). Didn't keep any, but going back this weekend and may keep some.

I used to hate catching bluegill and sunfish when I was a kid. I wanted the big fish! Like bass. Now I target bluegill occasionally. Never ate any though.

Hey fellas, I just purchased a new reel.

It's an Avet HXJ. I ordered the 50lb drag model but I ordered it online and it has nothing on the package to differentiate it from the 28lb drag model. How can I tell I received the 50lb model?

I'll post picks of the cows I drag in with it in the future but I'll rep you now for the info.

Unfortunately time is the one thing I don't have much of and seems like it requires a lot of time. Most my spare time goes to my project car and gym

yeah those lakes are definitely all day trips. i dont lift anymore cause of fishing. i tried doing both but its not possible with work too.

Do you fish all year long? I only fish during bass season which runs from the end of June until about mid October here. The only way I've been able to lift and fish is to scale way back on the lifting to strictly a maintenance program 2 days/week which has been a massive improvement over just no lifting at all for 4 months.

Yes. There is no actual season here for bass. April-oct is typical fishing season here but you can go out all 12 months depending on species and restrictions. The lakes in western Washington don’t freeze over because of the coastal climate and being right at sea level. I put in over 100 days on the water a year.

Yeah 100+ days of fishing and there's no way in hell you'd have the energy for lifting as well.

Going out at 6am for tautog and stripers. I got a 19ft. but going with my buddy. He just picked up a 32' with twin deisels.

I’ve been getting invited to fish but there’s a damn war going on down there where we fish. The dudes that are going are killing it though, big groupers. I probably won’t be going till January
