I remember a few years ago a 15 or 16 y/o post-op “female” came to the ER after a botched suicide attempt. This individual also had attempted suicide multiple times in the past. However, the mother seemed hellbent on making sure the proper “female” name was used instead of just ****ing worrying about their kid (couldn’t use it because it wasn’t on any legal documents). It was extremely sad and made me pretty angry. It actually makes my blood boil a bit thinking about it now.

I don’t have a problem with an adult (18+) choosing to take hormones and/or modifying their body. But children? Fuk no. They don’t know who the fuk they are. One day they want to be a cowboy, and the next they want to be an astronaut.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but I’m also okay with people refusing to acknowledge transgendered individuals by their “preferred pronoun”. It’s their choice, and there’s nothing wrong with calling someone by the biological sex they were born as. They can choose to ignore it if it bothers them. They don’t deserve special treatment. The problem with "transphobic" statements is that it has a wide range from gratuitous insults to stating a fact that only women menstruate and can become pregnant while men cannot. Obviously, outright threats or suggestions of harm should be condoned but latter statements should not be construed as transphobic.
