Just found out an old friend is a murderer?

Wow, life is weird. In college we were part of the same circle of friends and we all spent nearly every day together. He never seemed like the type to become a murderer, unless you take into account how people describe them. They say to watch out for the really chill and laid back people, because they might snap some day. That was definitely him. We had lost touch along with the rest of our group, and we just found out yesterday...it happened back in February of this year.

Thats crazy ****. I can never understand the killing of the family, especially kids, in these situations. Reminded me a little of the Chris Watts murders. I watched everything on YouTube and the Netflix show on that case. He murdered his wife, then drive his kids an hour away and killed both of them. Plenty of time to regroup and change course. Hes been in prison for 2 years now and is trying to get released. Kill yourself, leave everyone else out of it.

There was an amber alert over the weekend here in OK.

A guy in KS killed his two sons and took off with his two younger daughters towards Oklahoma.

Wtf is going through the people's minds...

Tragic, but not that hard to understand IMO.

- straight mental illness
- mental illness + trigger event
- mentally sound + unacceptable situation, as in "I can not live with this- No Go."

Could play out as:

- killing spouse in an act of rage/passion
- killing spouse due to a loss of control/feeling helpless
- killing spouse to protect self/children from an abusive situation
- killing kids to save them from the abusive spouse
- killing kids to keep them from knowing you killed their other parent (shame)
- killing kids because there is no one else to raise them well/safely

No idea of course what happened with your former acquaintance.

The one where the parent killed the older children? He might have been hoping that the younger kids would buy an easy lie/forget their mom. No chance of that with the older children.

Watched one yesterday on Hulu about that guy that murdered his wife, then took a hatchet to his 2 sons before he exploded all of them together in a house fire.
