Looking for suggestions for teeth whitening

First of all, I have sensitive teeth because I brushed too hard for too long and it exposed the dentin below my gum line.

So, stuff with hydrogen peroxide irritates my teeth. Is there any alternatives to hydrogen peroxide or something more mild? Anyone have any experience with those Crest white strips?

Yep, Crest white strips works wonders. Get the kind for "sensitive" teeth, it'll say on the box.

Keep flossing and brushing. If your gum is receding, you should go to the dentist and get that fixed.

Cool, thanks, I'll probably give that a try. I've just gotten back from the dentist. I had to have a "deep cleanining" on both sides of my mouth during 2 sessions where they injected lidocaine into my gums and cleaned it super thoroughly. Luckily, I was on nitrous.

I use 2 different toothpastes when I brush. I use Colgate Sensitive which has some potassium nitrate in it to calm the nerve endings that become sensitive, and then I use a bead of this Sensodyne toothpaste they only make in the UK and Europe. It has an ingredient called Novamin in it, which is called a "bioglass".

I use an electric toothbrush and everyone should be using one, IMO, it works much better to clean the teeth and get the fluoride and other minerals bound to your enamel. Most all dentists recommend using one now. You can buy a cheapOral B Disposable Electric Toothbrushand just use that.

Listerine also makes awhitening mouthwash. It has hydrogen peroxide, but it's lower on the ingredients list so it might not bother me as badly.

I see a lot of people recommending Crest 3D white, but I need some sensitive teeth toothpaste unfortunately.

I was thinking of replacing my sensodyne with some of this for a few weeks.



It's Arm & Hammer Baking Soda + Peroxide toothpaste. I was thinking of using that for a little while to see if it would help whiten my teeth, yet not cause the sensitivity too bad because I'd also be using the sensitive toothpaste along with it.

I agree on the electric toothbrush! Not enough people floss either, I also use a tongue scraper to get all that gunk out. Def get the teeth with receding gum filled in though.

Zoom whitening. Was posted about on the Misc a week or so ago. A local dentist can do it - in an hour you’ve got teeth up to 12 shades whiter.

I looked it up, and it looks like take home trays that you fill with hydrogen peroxide.

So, I watched a professional dentist try Hismile and he said it's bogus. The main ingredient is baking soda and it has a blue LED light which he says research shows has no effect. He said he got no results from it, and the kit is like $80.

Like I mentioned, I went to the dentist and all my dentist has is hydrogen peroxide treatments which hurt my sensitive teeth and so she didn't recommend it. That's why I was looking for other suggestions.
