Put her on a strict high protein diet 45/40/15 low calorie because she is fat, see her gut hanging? That could cause serious health issues in the future.

I'd get her engaged in some light cardio work in the gym and moderate weight work to maintain her muscle mass until she's was at a healthy weight.
