Are you worried about the advent of a cashless society?

Whether we like it or not, it seems that eventually society will become like this. Cashless has its advantages however it also poses a privacy risk. Banks can hold and control your money and cash might be difficult to come by once payments all become digital. Therefore if you "misbehave" you can easily be sanctioned and have you funds witheld.

Cash will always be king as it offers privacy and anonymity and so there's a reason that the "elites" will want to get rid of it. What are your thoughts?

I'm not worried, but it's definitely bad for me personally. I suppose the inability to hide your wealth should be a concern for everyone because it gives those with sinister motives too much information, but I will roll with the punches.

I'm basically cashless right now.. I rarely carry actual cash on me.. But what concerns you, also concerns me. Bill Burr has a bit about this and how they can just shut off your chip for comments you made or something you did and you cant pay for ****

I am 100% against a cashless society.

With that said, I don't think we will actually have a cashless society anytime soon. If the day does come in our lifetime, I'm pretty sure people will find a way around it.

lol @ not caring about cashless society. Say that when they do negative interest rates and you cant move your electronic savings into physical assets, alternative currencies etc.

They will OWN you. They will know everything about you and will and can do anything.

I welcome it. I use my credit card and phone to pay almost everywhere. I rarely use cash now - only to tip my stylist and my housekeepers - they insist on cash. It's a gigantic PIA.

Saw some post where a CEO of one of the banks was talking about how the banks were LOSING billions of dollars a year due to cash transactions. Interesting use of the world losing because that indicates that they think they are entitled to that money. Banks want to get a cut of every single transaction.

Government and law enforcement, as well as the IRS love the idea of cashless too, that way it's a papertrail, and you can't hide money, and they can just take the money from you, and shut your card down if you misbehave.

I mean, for what though? You go buy a car in cash, you still have to register it. You buy a house in cash theres public record you own it.

The only things I can think of that one would buy in cash and want to be anonymous about is chit like hookers or drugs..in which case I am sure there will be a way to pay for those without people knowing what you're obtaining.

It all sucks, where's the worry ever been on every little tax here and there leading up to it?

Cashless society like all things will start out good and then it'll just be people having their money taken away by government for "wrongdoing".

The future will basically always suck worse than the past because the people in control will take a little and a little more.

Save the ****ing BS circle jerk about rebelling to, there's nothing you can do and we will always arrive at the same point.

You can maybe delay it at best but there will always be greedy people wanting to take a bigger and bigger piece of the pie.

What ultimately happens?

IDK obviously but I seriously doubt it's some rebellion or the rich have changes of heart, only thing that could change the course of events would be some crazy extinction level event.

If that ever happened (which is likely) civilization will be destroyed, new civilizations built, and the cycle would start all over again.

Imagine being taxed on say giving a friend cash as a gift.

I mean imagine even potentially being taxed on any transfer of money.

Hell not too long ago ATM's would charge you a fee just to look at your balance.

Only a braindead person would fight the inevitable progression to a better system as well.

"Hurr dur I should have the option of riding a horse on the highway, don't force me into your automobiles!"

An all digital society would benefit the masses much more then a hybrid one would. It will also have to eventually be an ALL digital society to reap the true benefits of it (minimize money laundering, counterfeiting, illegal transactions, tax fraud, etc). A hybrid system allows for everything I just mentioned to continue much more easily.

You can either accept it or be the crazy guy on the street with no money and holding onto the past.

Cashless society is different from a society with cash that uses cashless systems.

One has no option to use cash, the other has the option. Also, having cash means there is a physical limit to what banks can say they have. If there is no physical cash then digital currency has nothing to back it up.

So going straight cashless with digital currency is similar to taking cash off the gold standard (which was done long ago).

I'm against anything that gives people power over other people despite being wrong or having no business in that.

A man that wants to say "fook it" and collect all his stuff and move away from something cause he doesnt share it, should have all the rights to do so regardless what those running it think about it.
