I don't understand the Eminem haters
I'm no Stan by any means but I think it's impressive that he's accomplished what he's accomplished without using the n word crutch every other line like the majority of other rappers.

up to around 2002 he was phenomenal and i thought his quality tanked for years after eminem show/8 mile soundtrack, both of which were great albums. after all that, maybe it was over exposure or the drugs or whatever but i felt like he fell off for a real long time.
i don't think that makes me a hater just calling it how i see it. present day his tough guy political act doesn't work for me either.

Jfl at haters, he's one of the most successful rappers alive, I admit it hasnt all been awesome and the last 10-15 years have been hit and miss sometimes but he still remains one of my favourite artists rapper or otherwise

I never liked him. There's something inauthentic and cheesy to me about a white guy trying to sound and act black. Same goes for Macklemore and any other cheesy white rapper. Also, his voice is just annoying.

I started out a big fan but it got corny seeing that he can't maintain popularity without attacking someone. Not to mention he only attacks the weakest of the weak.

I don't disagree with any of the criticisms posted here as everyone is entitled their own opinion. I only listen to a few songs off of his first album and a few off of his most recent 2. I still think it's impressive he's able to omit one of the most popular words in rap and still out rap the majority of people.

Peak Eminem was 1998-2003 can confirm. He did have some good songs after falling off with Eminem Show and Relapse.
Can't really explain it because he's is still just as skilled as he was back then, but nobody really wants to hear a 50 year old man rap in general, let alone about his mom, stepdad, make dink/**** punchlines, etc. You can only reuse the same content over and over again before the schtick becomes old. Plus he sounds kinda bitter nowadays as if he is trying to re-live the times where he was the talk of the town and involved in a billion controversies. Maybe also because I'm getting older and rap nowadays sounds corny af, but I still appreciate the songs back then the same though.
Just isn't really the same anymore and you don't feel the hunger and energy in the albums and tracks as if they had something to prove. No shame in it because it happens to everybody even the best. But to be fair to him rap/hip-hop just gets progressively more chit year after year, at least on mainstream and radio. I honestly stopped following the scene just before Drake made it big.

I liked him back when he first came out but over the years he just got annoying. I don’t hate him by any means but being a musician myself, rap is just pretty much cringe overall imo. There are def some rappers with real musical talent also but most of them aren’t.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

Time is a cruel mistress, and the fact is no one wants to listen to old musicians. Go listen to any of the old bands from the 80s that are still touring and doing their thing. Bon Jovi, ACDC, Guns n Roses, Eminem, from a technical standpoint, they're all still talented musicians, maybe even 'better' since they've learned tons from playing music for decades. But they just don't have that same energy that only exists in youth.

I'm a huge EM fan, but I think a lot of his recent work these days are wack and a lot of it cringe worthy. Yeah, people change, but when you sing about removing guns, while you were making your career based of guns, having songs where he is blasting people with a gun, killing his fans, etc. is hugely hypocritical.
He has become a bit of a coward and is afraid to say what he wants. When he apologized for using the word ******* (he even censored it) in the song Fall, I think that was the last drop
I still dig his music though, and I respect the guy. Been listening to him for 20 years.

That said, subjectively I dont feel his latest ****(meaning like last 10 years) I dont dig the whole 'rapping superfast' bs nor the hyper intricate rhyme schemes, but every once in a while he drops something i can totally fw
Someone above said he's not credible because 'he acts black', but that point is unfair and fallacious, he grew in a black neighborhood, always had mostly black friends, grew INSIDE black culture and had to fight to be accepted(and is now not only accepted but exalted by it) so there's nothing 'fake' about him acting like he does

Eminem claims he’s not street, keeps his mouth shut about the hood and never iirc has used the n word... but to me he’s more gAngster than Cena.
Eminem in 2002 I recall he stepped into a gym and went to bench 100 lbs and ended up getting crushed under the bar. But his vocal is strong af . It’s made him world famous and super rich. He’s a brilliant writer as Tupac except he’s also a Great free stylist .

I don't understand the hate on his newer stuff...Bad Meets Evil with Royce was decent. Kamikaze has some solid hits on it as well. His diss on Machine Gun Kelly made that kid change from Rap to pop rock.
