Why is everything a scam now days?

I ordered a headset from amazon with mic. Broke within a week. I ordered a evap / vacuum system smoke test machine for $100+ dollars and the thing doesnt get hot enough or something to put out any smoke. And it was like some guy took a paint can and drilled some holes into it and put on a heating coil with a cotton ball. I tried to return it twice and they wont respond so I talked to amazon on their chat thing and the person in the chat deleted previous messages when I asked for a transcript. They said something like unfortunately since this item was sold 3rd party we can not cover this under A-Z guarantee. Whatever that means. Then further on in the chat the person said if the seller does not send a return label in 2 days I will get one or a refund from amazon under their A-Z guarantee. Then they went back and deleted both messages and they disappeared from my chat. WTF? Amazon is garbage and I am pissed off.

Also, I ordered 3 months worth of canned food and groceries from walmart deliver. The guy came and banged on the door and left. When I got out there I saw he didn't deliver my groceries. I contacted walmart because it said delivery on the way still. The guy said since traffic was bad the groceries were no good and the delivery driver returned to the store and cancelled my order. The time between the email of him on the way and him banging was 13 minutes. I ordered no cold things. All canned and packaged things. It was supposed to be a contactless delivery. The things the guy told me ended up being not true. The next day the delivery still said on the way and I had to talk to 2 more different people to get my order cancelled. I guess they were just gonna charge me the money and never deliver the groceries? Sick of scammers all the time and it is pissing me off.

Just today I was supposed to have a computer monitor delivered from amazon. The only reason I chose that one was because it said 2 day delivery guarantee for amazon prime. Now it isn't going to be here until November 3rd. It said delayed in transit. But it says it is in a city 20 minutes from me ever since last night at 7 pm. WTF. So sick of these scams.

Also I ordered a throttle body for my truck and I have the guy on video throwing the package. Like he tossed it a good 10 feet. The throttle body acts erratic and works worse than the bad one I replaced. Sick of this garbage. The company doesn't care and wont refund me. Told me to put a claim into the delivery company. The delivery company says the seller has to put in the insurance claim. So I got this $200 piece of metal that doesn't work. Everything is a scam and I am fukin sick of people.

It's because the internet is pretty much all scam status these days. It's regulated by nerds who only look out for their own self interests, so people can just run whatever bullchit they like without anyone cracking down on them. It's why word of mouth from real people was always so much more valuable, when it comes to internet reputation that chit is easily bought and paid for or it's simply a product of people defending their personal interests.

The evap smoke tester says made in the USA. The amazon customer service people had names like "Vidhya" so idk what that is. The walmart people were "american" whatever that means anymore.

As someone that works for an e-commerce company and helps manage the warehouse, it's called capitalism OP.

People will cut as many corners as possible, to create the biggest margin possible, to get the largest return possible.

Buy cheap products that are cheaply made. Then sell them overpriced. Big companies give zero fuks about customer satisfaction. Srs. They only care about 1 thing. Efficiency. Amazon is the prime example of it. If you get it and it is broke or chitty and packed with no bubble in a giant box, they'll just send another one out. You'll deal with it because they are efficient and can ship in 1-2 days.

Always pay a little more and shop at smaller companies. Our company takes care of the stuff we pack at least and pack with care. Although a lot of the things we get are from China and come in on dirty fukked up pallets. It's pretty gross, but that is all companies like that.

Here is an example for you OP. The first year I worked at my company (neighbors start up company), we had about 250 unique items. Christmas time came around and we got one box of "media savers" which were these small black electronic things you can save media on. We got 1,000 units for $.25 for each unit. That's $250 we spent. Plus the shipping to get to us let's say $275 for one big case of 1k units.

We sold each unity for $27.99. That was considered pretty cheap compared to other websites. We sold all of them in 2 weeks. That's right under 28k for 1k units, only spending $275. We had 250 unique items besides that. Now more like 300+ and now 5 pop up shops. Do you think my company gave a fuk if they worked or not? No lol. If it comes broken or breaks in 2 uses, oh well. We made chit ton of money on one tiny item. We'll send another despite your inconvenience.

It's all about money at all cost. Capitalism is great, but at a certain point the consumer starts to get fukked over.

When businesses scale up fast the quality of the goods and service they provide deteriorate. Places like Walmart and other big chain stores offering online shopping and drop offs have the struggle of expanding this part of their business but also maintaining a reasonable healthy margin. Clearly can't do this if you hire Timothy for 10 bucks an hour and have Sally doing customer service for 9 bucks an hour.

When the world get hyper competitive quality suffers at the expense of providing a better bottom line to consumers. We saw this trend already in the airline industry.

Tldr. It's a Clown world bro

Edit: example above is great view from the business side

Ain't that the truth, pretty much explains why everything sucks these days. Everything is controlled by big entities that are too big to fail so therefore they don't give a phuck about standards and being chitty to the little guy.

I always double or triple check the stuff that I'm ordering -- is it worthless crap or worth buying.

Can't do much about the delays, That has been happening frequently lately.

And I never have groceries delivered.

Yeah I am done with amazon. I decided to give them a second chance and made a new account and I have worse problems now than when I had the previous account. The last account I had one issue which was an $800 computer was supposedly left outside my door at my apartment in st pete FL and it wasnt there. I thought it would have required a signature. I chatted, called, etc with amazon and they told me they need me to go to the police and make a report and give them the report number before they can do anything. I went to the police station downtown and talked to an officer there and told him what happened. He said that since I never had possession of the item it was never stolen from me and I have no proof of a crime happening. He said it was stolen from the delivery company or the delivery driver never delivered it. Amazon would not refund me or send me another one. I called UPS and they stood firm on saying it was delivered for sure. I lost $800 and everyone I talked to played games with me to avoid helping me.

Edit: InB4 the cluster B NPD soulless zombie meat puppet bugman consoomer people gaslighting saying it is my fault for ordering a computer from a company.

Sounds about right. Today's online big business environment is all about the customer always being wrong.
