Goodluck. I'm 31 around a Norwood 1.5. Dad's side is bald. Mom side has 4 brothers full head of hair at 60+. I haven't noticed much recession in recent years. 1st cousins my age and 4 years younger on my dad side are receding more than me, so I either dodged a bullet or the Norwood reaper comes by and snips a little off each time. Either way I'm not a fan of this genetic crapshoot im in.

I'm manning it out until the obvious is clearer. I won't catch it too late. My diet is solid, exercise habits on point, and knowing what the above poster mentioned, I feel monitoring it is the best path. I have a slightly higher natural hairline, so I feel differences in 1.5-3 will be more noticeable allowing me to catch it quick. That said, nothing noticeable in the past few years. I'm chalking up any recession to my current state to poor diet and horrible life habits (smoking, drinking, etc) and praying mommas daddy is correct.

Only reason im not 100% sold on mommas daddy is because of genetic anomalies like your brothers situation.

If I could start fin again, I would definitely go with 0.5mg a day. I started getting gyno after a few months on 1mg, but luckily it's been fine ever since on 0.5mg

Iโ€™m getting an FUE transplant in December from an American doctor with 20 years experience for about $14,000.

I refuse to touch finasteride so Iโ€™m adding in PRP (platelet rich plasma) and Laser Light Therapy + Minoxidil. Basically everything BUT finasteride. If I need another transplant down the road, Iโ€™ll do that too. Doctor says I have more than enough donor hair to harvest.

3000 grafts for the crown and temples. Iโ€™m a Norwood 4. Was gonna go to Istanbul, Turkey for a third of the price but I donโ€™t trust them.

I got a huge melon of a head and I know this because in first grade when they measured our head circumference for the cap and gown, mine was the biggest. Canโ€™t be bald or risk having a limp dick.

Without fin, you'll just continue to lose hair. Sure the donor hair at the back will be strong. But every hair that was going to fall out, will fall out.

I use those toppik hair building fibers for the crown of my head as it is. You canโ€™t really use that stuff on the temples because thereโ€™s no hair to hold it. If I keep thinning around the crown and behind my frontal hairline Iโ€™ll just use those fibers.

Get yourself some toppik hair building fibers. Its a poor mans hair transplant. I went on finastride and i didnt have dink issues... But i noticed a slight tingling in my nipple... I googled it and it said it can give gyno and i stopped immediately.

I wouldnt say it grew my hair back but i believe it slowed down my hairloss.

I donโ€™t know how to say this without sounding like a pretentious douche but I hit my peak in my early 20โ€™s. Full head of hair, blue eyes, defined jaw line, etc. I cringe even typing that because I dismissed or downplayed any compliment I was ever given. I had life on easy mode for the most part. That all changed once I started balding.

Itโ€™s perfectly acceptable for women to use pounds of makeup to have them looking like something theyโ€™re not. But if a guy does something about his hair to make himself look exactly the way he looked as his normal self (with a full head of hair) weโ€™re told to man up and shave it. I say fuk that. Man up and stop letting people tell you how to live your life. Itโ€™s not even just about girls. In general people just wanna look good for the sake of looking good. Itโ€™s not rocket science.
